by Chris Webb
» 10:01 30 Nov 2011

Hi All

Please follow the link. I'm very busy with work today but will be on later.

I'm sure somebody from the Trust, GTs, supporters groups etc will be able to comment during the course of the day.

This will be an important meeting.

Chris

This is a great opportunity for fans to engage with the club, and it would be madness not to attend the meeting the meeting if you have any interest in the way "our" football club is run.

The London Branch has had more communication with Peter and James then we ever had from Mr Stapleton!!

I have to say as the Chair of the London Branch I welcome this opportunity and will be there on the 14th.

Good stuff.

The Trust will have a formal response to this positive step in due course. We'll be in an election period at the time of the meeting so the Board will be in a form of purdah. However, we'll be setting out in our response some key principles of engagement, focusing on legitimacy and accountability of any structure and the level at which it should engage with the club.

Ultimately though we want our nigh on 1,500 members to come and tell Mr Brent how they want to engage with the club.

This is a real chance for fans to get together and create something special and engage with the club.

All groups should get involved - The Trust, season ticket holders (over 3,000 members), all fan websites, the various fan groups around the country, the GT's and the Senior Greens.

As a Trust founder I find this post so pompous! If I was not a member of the Trust and was unsure if I should join or not you would have made my mind up for me.

I think you should look again at what you have posted and how it may come across.

We worked bloody hard to get this far, remember the 11th December 2010 that is when the Trust was formed and through the trust being formed we found great leaders in Graham and Chris and without the likes of them (with me as there right hand man  ) we would not be looking forward to such meetings in the New Year!

Lee, I honestly can't see what there is in what I wrote to get so worked up about but I apologise if that upset you.

1) I welcomed the move and called it a positive step.

2) I said we'd be outlining a view from the Trust as to how any mechanism could work. That's showing leadership (something which we've been criticised for not showing recently!)but i'd welcome members to help us shape that view and my PM inbox is always open.

Is that not the very same sort of positive action and engagement that the founders of the Trust demonstrated a year ago?

Agreed Ian, we could be on the edge of something good here.

I do hope the Trust engages like it should though, rather than be 'demanding' things.

We've come a long way, and I'd hate someone to blow it by being too self important.

John Petrie wrote: A good step forward and I hope that whatever is set up is as democratic and accountable as possible. Whilst I have the utmost confidence in friends of mine who I am sure will be a part of this, we must ensure that it does not look, feel or seem to behave like some sort of closed club as this would rightly lead to criticism.

Personally I'd like to see a representative of the Trust, a rep from the GTs, an elected representative of the supporters branches, an elected member of pasoti, and maybe an elected member of the senior greens. This would give us a good platform to build on, should be fairly representative of the fan base and will provide us with a decent degree of accountability. In the long run I'd like to see the Trust strengthen its position, through increasing membership and funds, and become the focal point for any interaction as it is the only constituted body with the direct aim of being 'political' and democratic.

I would think that is why the meeting has been called!

I think an awareness of the type of audience you are addressing wouldn't go amiss.

This is a football messageboard. Throwing in super-obscure words (with monotonous regularity) that 95% of your readers need to go and google would, I agree, demonstrate a level of pomposity.
