Argyle have an ageing fanbase due mostly to young fans for years turning to the Man United's/Man City's of this world rather than supporting their local team.Any incentives to get the younger supporters on board must be paramount to Argyle's future.I expect that James Brent already knows this and will be looking to address this issue.

The 'well paid military' are not generally Argyle fans. If you were posted to, or studied in Macclesfield, would you part with £20 to watch L2 football? Its difficult enough to do it watching the team you support sometimes!

The issue is how to attract casual supporters who wouldnt usually support Argyle as they have no affiliation with the club, but the right pricing structure may entice them in. This will fill empty seats, bring some revenue in, and possibly help Argyle widen their fan base. I wouldnt expect these people to become Argyle fans but Argyle may become their second team, and they may start coming more often.

I welcome debate on this subject, and I welcome fresh thinking on broadening Argyles appeal beyond the core fan base.

edited to add: casual football supporters, not necessarily Argyle fans.

Yes let the low paid pensioners subsidise these well paid people.

For the next generation of fans, I agree.

Not at the moment though. Get a more "consitent" team on the pitch first, else they won't want to come again!

As for the other discounts (especially pensioners), go for it. There are plenty of empty seats at the moment and every little bit of extra income helps.

No-ones subsidising anyone. There are empty seats. 10,000+ of them. Lets look into how we can get people in, including increasing discounts for pensioners AND attracting casual supporters. You seem to be saying its either or. Its not.

Afaiac, John has fully answered Mike's questions.

I don't believe for one moment that Argyle's pensioners are "subsidising" anyone, that's just plain daft.

I do however, still have a massive problem with a very well paid member of the Armed Forces getting a discount that is on a par with the Over 65s.

The thing is, I've got a foot in both camps! I'm ex RN and now a pensioner...I know, I know, I don't look old enough!!, so I can see where John is coming from but also where Mike is going!

This seasons pricing was always going to be one big cockup after the summer's antics and it will be good to see what, if any, fresh ideas Mr Brent and his new Board can come up with, with regard to initiatives for bringing in both new AND old supporters.
There is no argument to equal a happy smile!

Like the fact something is being planned! My kids are currently junior blues which costs £10 each a season, they get a pack of goodies each year, discount on tickets etc. I'd happily pay the same for argyle for similar package.
Note before comments get made, my hubby is a blue!
