What will happen if we don't meet the goal? An ice age?
By all accounts,if and when the Greenland ice shelf/sheet melts. All that fresh water will switch off the Gulf Stream, which gives Britain and Northern Europe the climate we get.
So in theory,a return to an ice age may be on the cards. I did read in the Times some 2/3 years back that Scientists had discovered that the Gulf Stream was in fact starting to switch off/slow down etc. But the Scientists do not know how long it would take to go completely.
I'm sure someone on here can elaborate more on that?.
I guess that that explains this "early?" cold spell then.
We may actually have a White Christmas this year as a result.
So, what does global warming ultimately do?
Make the planet too hot or make it too cold?
