I'm not doubting the difficult job politicians do but there are plenty of difficult jobs out there.
Take care workers for example. This Government has made their job (if it hasn't been lost already) considerably more difficult over the last couple of years. Over the next five, it will get more difficult again. These people are not well paid as it is but play an integral role in our society. No one in this country will escape the impacts of mental health for example whether directly or indirectly.
Yet despite all that, the rhetoric they continuosly hear is that these cuts and changes and needed for the good of the country - namely the economy. A man made construct don't forget.
So even if they ignore the damage the Government has done, and is continuing to do, to themselves and those in their care, to see MPs get a pay rise of £7,000 must feel like a kick in the bollocks. And personally I think it is wrong.
If this country was in a good shape and if MPs were doing a good job for ALL then I could perhaps see the argument for such a pay rise. However, given their questionable performance, I can't get my head around such an insulting decision.
