Bleddy shitehawks. Bane of my life.
After 16 years of the blighters in the dockyard, thought i had seen the last of em.
Nope. How many people in plymouth would put food out in their front garden regularly
to feed and attract these vermin? One? maybe two. So guess what my dork neighbours
do as a pastime. Yeh, you guessed it. Breakfast and teatime. Dozens of the birdstards.
Shiting all over my adjoining garden and dominating the local airspace and nearby rooftop
landing areas bigtime. Then there is the constant row they make at those feeding times. Aaagh!
The gull problem seems to have got worse over recent years. No longer just the barbican and seafront.
The closure of chelston meadow, probably not helping, causing more gull migration into the city?
Nationally, it did reach prime ministerial level with cameron talking of a seagull summit earlier
in the year due to so many complaints about their aggressive behaviour.
When i googled seagull it said they can live for 40 years. They pair for life. They always nest in the
same location annually around spring and summer. Usually near a regular food source. Hmmm.
Thats when they divebomb, to protect their chicks. They can be vicious beggars in doing so.
Seabirds should be at sea, but i guess they are clever enough to spot the dopey human/free lunch
connection so they are now scavenging and annoying us big time instead.
Apparently they nest in chimneypots, on flat roofs and alcoves which are all around my street.
They havnt nested anywere here yet though. Fingers crossed. I got my beedie eye on em for sure.
Council pest department if they do, although i think they will only act if they start attacking
people. Or pets, as i recall reading somewhere of a small dog being killed by one.
I think there was a campaign for fines to be introduced by the council for feeding them in
plymouth but it failed to materialise unfortunately. Damn, damn, and triple damn!
