Thing is with religion, that has been highlighted by some of the comments on this thread, it always seems to me that no matter how respectful or otherwise people are, if you're a non-believer or even somewhere in-between, you're to be pitied or you don't know what you're saying.

Surely if people are asking for their views to be treated with respect that should work both ways, ie live and let live?

Can we at least not be RESPECTFUL in our responses, even if you don't agree with him.
I'm surprised that the OP, is so offended. But it was a request, not a demand. I for one will try not to offend swilly in the future.

Agree 100% Mork.

Does strike of censorship, all be it a one striker version of it.

If your fine institution rates the actuality of the horrors associated with the n-word below the intangible messages of the J-word, then I respect it way less.

Can't say i agree with OP on this one. I feel far too often too much respect is granted to religion, while they offer very little of the same in return. Religion is there to be ridiculed, just like any other belief or opinion.

May I politely request that this gets moved to "OPINIONS" as it has sweet bugger all to do with Argyle.

The OP respectfully asked us to "consider the way in which religious language is used."
A recent post that I read started with one of these words (that had caused offence) and I have to say it added nothing to the meaning of the post so if it causes offence to fellow supporters and it doesn't enhance the argument then why use it at all?
This is 2017. Football supporters are a "broad church" from our community. Men, women, children, different cultures and religion, some disabled some very able, some wealthy and some not so wealthy. Argyle needs all of this fan base. Let's show each other consideration and respect.

How dare you be so 'colourist' Mr Green.

Strange thread this, any other religion follower with a similar request might have not had such a generally frivilous response. Not perhaps on the same level, but one persons views of events at Luton led to a thread about our racist problem and led to further investigation, the same as I would expect Anti Semitism or Anti Muslim talk would.

It's not so much the content of the OP that bothers me, more the lop sided response by comparison. Make light of a guys apparently genuine thoughts, but spend Saturday nights arguing and name calling over someones belief that the Right Back was a 6 rather than a 7 out of 10 performance, or getting upset because the Manager didn't wave to you.

I care little for Religion of any persuasion, I've been slapped about for annoying or ignoring the finer points of a few over the years and learnt by my mistakes and ignorance to afford them all the same respect.

Seconded, with church bells on, off to 'opinions' please

On the subject of respect.

It ticked me off this morning having two people enter the grounds of Smiffy Towers with the express intent to convert me to their particular slant on religion (they never got as far as saying which).

We, all of us smile politely, decline their indoctrination and they shuffle off next door but inside you're left annoyed. I mean, who are they to decide we're wholly misguided in how we conduct our lives and lacking something only they can give. When you think about it, that's really quite insulting. But we all shrug it off, meh, whatever.

Now, if atheists were to go door to door asking Christians, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists etc to give up their beliefs and embrace Darwinism....man there would be some serious sparks.

Double standards?
