1) Threlkeld back around right-back which allowed Vyner to partner Bradley with Songo'o dropping back to the bench. No other changes with Argyle looking stable in recent weeks. Argyle started very battle with Lameiras and Carey playing very close to Taylor.

2) Argyle probably had the better of the first half in terms of possession but Bradford managed the better chances until Sarcevic found the net with a deflected effort that earlier in the season would have bounced wide. Lameiras had an even better chance a few minutes later from a Carey cross but he couldn't find the net. Carey had a free-kick in a good position but he chose to take it short.

3) Lameiras did his usual bits of trying the fancy too often but entertaining. Carey slightly off the boil but not helped by Bradford who seemed to be intent on stopping him whatever it took. Ness, Fox and Sarcevic the stand out players of the first 45. Bradley and Vyner also had good 45s

4) Taylor seemed to be fouled everytime he went for the ball but the referee was very unsympathetic. The referee started by blowing for blocks and pulls but as the half wore on he chose to allow more and more with Lameiras suffering in particular. Towards the end of the half there was an incident in the corner of the pitch near Zoo corner that resulted in the Bradford player being booed but I don't know why.

5) The second started slowly and it took a while for either side to get into their stride. Argyle went back to patient build up whilst Bradford couldn't penetrate the Argyle midfield. Bradford blinked first and made a double substitution in an attempt to get more of the play.

6) Argyle came under a bit of a siege. Matthews flapped at a corner and the defence failed to clear it's lines. Argyle seemed to be content to gain distance rather than possession. We occasionally got a break away but couldn't capitalise, far too easily we gave the ball away. Bradford made their third sub.

7) Argyle wasted a few free-kicks and corners. Lots of short balls and planned moves that brought no result. As the game moved into the last quarter it felt like we might regret the chances we had turned down. Especially true as Bradford seemed to find more rhythm.

8 ) Tempers began to fray but still the referee kept his cards in his pocket. Lameiras made way for Taylor-Sinclair and Sarcevic came off with Songo'o on as Adams switched from attack to defence. We immediately went deep. Bradford threw an elbow at Bradley and finally the ref showed a card - a red one.

9) Ness had a chance to put the game beyond soubt but just chipped wide. Game of two halves. Argyle by far the better team in the first half. Second we withstood a load of pressure but Bradford failed to create clear chances. Great stuff.

Looked like considerably more than 11k there today imho. The horseshoe, apart from the segregated areas, looked pretty packed to me.

Great result.

Green Army, seemed confident throughout until the last five minutes.

Excellent support from the away fans, they have a couple of catchy chants.

A couple of Argyle fans on the train overhead moaning it was a game between two poor sides. I can't agree with this at all but you could say that It was two decent sides who cancelled each other out for large parts of the game.

Bradford were strong towards the end but Argyle resisted well and surely you have to say it was a great result for Argyle. Great support from both sets of fans too.

Those segregated areas are pretty huge though.

Another game, another win ending with a place in the play-offs. Bottom of the league in December to 6th place before the end of February is just incredible!

For the second game in succession we reverted to League Two mode and ground out a 1-0 win. For the majority of the game we lost the attacking sparkle we showed in previous games, instead the defence has taken over as the platform to win games with Sonny Bradley leading the way.

The game was cagey, gritty and devoid of clear cut chances and now as we enter the final stages of the season games are now tense, as our promotion prospects increased the anxiety levels have also gone up. From looking at teams around us at the bottom of the league we now check our phone apps for teams around us in the play-offs and today FotMob (other apps are available) told me all the results went our way.

Bradford did have a player sent off in the closing stages for a terrible elbow on Bradley.

The three officials were probably the best we've seen this season.

To continue the comparison with Barnsley’s similar incredible run from the bottom of League One to the play-offs in 2016, at the 35 game stage they were in 6th place on 55 points, only above, funnily enough, Bradford on goal difference.
We have bettered that and are now two points clear of Charlton in 7th place.

All ifs and buts, however dates for your diaries - League One play-off semi-final A will be played on Thursday 10th and Sunday 13th May.

Play-off semi-final B will be played on Saturday 12th and Wednesday 16th May.

The play-off final will be on Sunday 27th May. Kick-off times to be confirmed. :)

Oscar Threkeld returned to the team while Yann Songo'o dropped out.

Bradford started the better team against the tanned Argyle players, both teams looked nervous in the early stages of the game and it became cagey and tactical.
Bradford's obvious tactic was to attack our left side, just as Oxford did last week, however Gary Sawyer was up to the challenge and with the help of Jamie Ness was able to see out the danger.

Bradford's best attacks came when Lameiras regularly lost possession and Bradford pushed forward on the counter attack, from one shot Matthews made a regulation save.

We then settled into the game and Lameiras and Carey started to cause problems while Ryan Taylor regularly won free-kicks that helped build the pressure.

We got our noses in front when Carey won back the ball, he fed Lameiras who played in Sarcevic, his shot was deflected and bounced over the diving Bradford keeper and into the net. 1-0 up and into 6th place. Deflected shots winning games is the kind of luck we need if we are to get into the top six.

In that 10 minute period just after the goal we played our best football of the game and Bradford struggled to contain us. One team added to already high confidence while the other team saw their fragile confidence visibly drain away.
We couldn't add that crucial and killer second goal before half time.

The second half was different, we contained, stifled and played shape, filling the gaps and stopped Bradford from creating clear chances.

We rode our luck at times, one cross zipped across our six yard line and it looked like Threlkled might have pushed a Bradford player but we got away with it.

Our counter attacking football did cause problems and for the want of the good final pass we might have scored more.

Adams settled for the one goal by bringing on Songo'o and Taylor-Sinclair to shore up the defence.

We entered the last 5 nervous minutes and to help our cause Wyke elbowed Bradley and was sent off after the ref chatted to the linesman.

Ness could have scored in the final minute after the Bradford keeper made a complete howler but his chipped shot went wide. He should have just hammered it. No matter. We finally have plus goal difference this season!

Sonny Bradley was just magic - heading, clearing, covering, blocking. He reads the game so well and uses this to cover his lack of pace.
Zak Vyner alongside him had another good game following a shaky start where he lost possession a few times.

Threlkeld was just Threlkeld - he runs all game.

Sawyer played well after being targeted by Bradford, steady Eddy.

Ness had his best game in an Argyle shirt and was close to being Man of the Match, by comparison Sarcevic didn't shine but he scored the winner so we'll let him have one duff game.

Carey tried to create and get on the ball, sometimes he needs to play the simple ball rather than the Hollywood ball.

Lameiras was his usual - flicks, tricks, exciting and also putting his team in trouble.

Bradford saw in Ryan Taylor just what they wanted to buy in January - winning headers, winning free-kicks, holding up the ball and occupying two centre-backs. Great lone striker play.

Bradford were very poor upfront, they do look a team short on confidence and were robust and functional and lacked any flair and creativity as we show with Carey and Lameiras.

We did waste several free-kicks and corners by taking them short, why do that when we have Bradley lurking at the far post?

We now have two away games against two teams struggling at the bottom of League One - just as we were only recently.

Man of the Match - Bradley.

Matthews 7, Threlkeld, 7, Vyner 8, Bradley 9, Sawyer 7, Fox 6, Ness 8, Sarcevic 7, Carey 7, Lameiras 6, Taylor 8. Subs - Songo'o 6, Taylor-Sinclair 6.

I thought Vyner and Bradley were my men of the match. They both seem to read the game really well and seemed rock solid all game

Although a special mention to Lameiras who had a 10 minute spell in the first half where he seemed to be untouchable. Kept on spinning into space and caused mayhem

Thought Bradford were a sly dirty team with several off the ball digs and kicks at Argyle players. Probably caused by their frustration at being unable to get a break through.

We are at the business end of the season winning ugly is what we have to do, sometimes you have to dig in and scrap for the points.
