For the season just finished we averaged 1,010 fans at each away game, the sixth highest in League One.

Averge away followings in League One:

Wigan 1,098
Rotherham 1,013
Argyle 1,010
Oldham 936
Oxford 922
Bristol Rovers 849
Charlton 828
Shrewsbury 754
Northampton 715
Doncaster 687
Peterborough 608
Southend 543

Blackpool 515
AFC Wimbledon 476

Exceptional considering League One is dominated by northern clubs.

Even the southern teams such as Gillingham, Southend and Charlton are hundreds and hundreds of miles away from Plymouth.

fan miles travelled not really relevant. One of the reasons we get such good away support is that Plymouth tends to export people and Argyle therefore have an unusually high proportion of fans living outside its home area. For SE games I would estimate only about half come up from Devon/Cornwall.

I note your views and while I agree we do have a large following from around the country (and indeed around the world). If the mileage were less, then far more fans from Devon and Cornwall would attend, thus making the fan mileage very much relevant.

Of course, it is relevant !

I do NOT know the % of the travelling Green Army who are located in Plymouth or Devon and Cornwall.

Neither do I know the home location of the other clubs' fans.

BUT, I believe the number of fans travelling away FROM WHEREVER TO WHEREVER, any study must consider that travel distance ?

For example, Blackburn may ONLY take a high figure to their northern opponents but when you factor in the whole season, it MAY give a distorted view ?

How many did they bring to Home Park ?

There are statistics and statistics and ................[whatever the cliche is !!!]

Keep the Faith :scarf:

Would like to see the breakdown of away fans at each ground. It's interesting as this is where geographically we miss out financially. Imagine, for arguements sake, somewhere like Oxford situated in the middle of the country probably have double our amount of away fans. With more away fans our gates would look much healthier.
And it's a bit skewed as Blackburn and Oldham had lots of local games.
