Hopefully he's back Saturday, he's not amazing, but the idea of Edwards & Wootton against Lyle Taylor is a pretty terrifying one, in fact the idea of Edwards & Wootton against any striker is a pretty terrifying one.

I have only seen him first half against Peterborough and the few minutes last saturday. Terrifying idea or horrific defending

Blackpool cut through them like a knife to hot butter, if they didn't sit back on their 1 goal lead, things would have got much worse.

I thought they played well on Saturday, far better than the rest of the games this season I suppose that isn't saying much but still.

I thought Wootton had the best game he's had since he's come here tbh.

Made a fantastic last ditch tackle, albeit from his own hesitancy, decent block when Macey looked stranded, also noticed he played out from the back on the floor rather than hammering it long.

Sonny was never quick either, him and Edwards never looked right together and I would've thought DA would've learnt from that last season and brought in a Vyner/Nelson type.

I have a gut feeling Canavan might be one of those where it just doesn't work out, not sure why. He reminds me of Trigger with his mannerisms though.

Sawyer in at CB with ASB at LB would be my choice anyway so not a great loss

Back 4 needs to be :

Moore cus Riley is sh1te
Edwards cus no other big man choice
Sawyer leader better positioningly
ASB best LB we have

not a patch on

Oscar
Bradley
Vyner
Sawyer

from last year though

Edwards doesn't give us the aerial dominance Sonny did
and no one gives us the pace of Vyner

I don't think Riley is that bad, but hard to argue with the rest.

I'd have the same back 4 as you, but as you say, not a patch on last seasons.

Granted it was a poor League 2, but that defence of Berry, Purse, Blanchard & Williams kept us in the League, I worry that the current one won't.

Indeed, it was a means to an end. I share similar thoughts to you about the current back four...
