For Immediate Release

Wycombe Wanderers have confirmed that their proposed takeover by American investors has been approved by the EFL and that the Fans Trust has sold a controlling interest. The investors who has previously controversially loaned the Trust money in defiance of Trust rules have made a number of significant announcements as a result of their takeover.

The most significant is that effective immediately the club name will change from Wycombe Wanderers
to Sporting Wycombe. The EFL has confirmed that in the event of alphabetical order becoming the final deciding measure of league position the new name will be used, this giving the relegation haunted club a small advantage over Walsall and Wimbledon ( for whom AFC will not be allowed to count). The new owners said " For us this was a no brainer, just like taking over the club. We expect to continue the club on it's present trajectory until we reach a suitable sustainable level for the club and its several fans. Our new motto going forward which underpins our investment strategy is The Bucks stop here".

The club will also benefit from a. new sponsorship deal with including Stadium Naming rights with Timex. Timex spokesperson Avril Jeste confirmed the deal and stated " We found that when we researched the market the one club that kept coming up in reference to timekeeping and indeed the amount of time spent on the pitch, be it from home or away fans was Sporting Wycombe. For us, watching highlights videos with so many fans pointing at their watches just made it an obvious choice."

The club has denied the change was forced upon them by legal action from an unnamed League One manager who objected to the continued use of his name with a football stadium where so little actual football was played.
