Sorry to raise a negative point on a mixed day (positive: RL's first press conference and immediate injection of positivity. negative: Carey departure), but it has to be said that the club can never again afford the duel mistake of a half decade contract for the manager yet short term contracts for clearly talented players.
When tallied up what cost is there in total in letting Carey and Lameiras go for free (Probably £2 million worth of talent) plus paying off Adams? It's a frightening thought but the combined figure will run into the millions.

The opposite is also true as well and I believe its all relative. You can tie players into longer contracts and they might have an injury and never return to the player they were before, they could have a longer contract and decide they are happy to only provide 50% of the effort that won them said contract in the first place. Its also down to the players and the agents. Argyle might well have offered both Carey and Lamerias longer contracts that were rejected by the players we don`t know what happens behind closed doors, certain players might like to sign for a year and give everything they can to see if they can earn a move to a bigger club, other players might want a longer contract because it offers more stability in their home life. Its also happens at every single club in the country but that`s football.
