Reputation for what?
When was the last time there was crowd trouble outside the ground with Argyle away?
All we saw today was a lot of very bored coppers. Laughable waste of tax money.

I think the Police always have a really difficult job to do and they usually have my sympathy.

However, the stupidity of the police barricade at the end of the match could easily have caused a problem that was never there.

There is still something terribly wrong with how football supporters are treated.

Fortunately some of us simply walked through in order to get to cars etc.

Someone on behalf of supporters who travel to see a football match really ought to take this up with the club. The end of the game today felt like a return to 1980.

Also, what was that 1740 special train that had to get announced about 4 times in the ground and was presumably the target of the escort from the ground? Nothing on the screens at the station or on realtimetrains. Or am I living in a bubble?

To be fair there were a few Burb types lurking on the corner of County Road and Manchester Road after the game but prior to the escort. Presumably there was some intelligence that some encounter had been arranged or something.

I think the point of the announcements was to get people on the train to Bristol parkway rather than the temple meads train 15 minutes later which would normally be the more obvious train to catch for Plymouth

Barricade was stupid and just wound people up for no reason but having said that was easy to slip through if you really wanted.

The police barricade after the match caused a dangerous knock on effect with the fans exiting the stadium down narrow enclosed stairwells coming to a standstill and unable to leave the stairwells.
The fans behind them kept coming which although didn't cause any crushing it was still a dangerous situation that could have been avoided.

What was the point?
Protecting them from us? Laughable as Argyle don't cause issues.
Protecting us from them? Laughable as the only threat was Bill and Brenda coming back from Asda.
Just a police experiment with us as guinea pigs. 1980s flashback.

You think the cops are stupid???

They have 2300+ Argyle supporters heading their way, they will know, for a FACT, that the FA have cited Argyle because of the behaviour of SOME "fans" at away games.

What do you expect them to do? Sit around at home, playing with the kids while 2 miles down the road all hell has been breaking loose...all because of a handful of mindless morons.

There will always be those who, at the first opportunity, knock the police of this country...seems like you're one of them.

Like the vast majority of fans, zero interest in football’s finances, but I’m pretty certain the police cost is covered by the home club not the local authorities, hence Category A, B and C ticketing costs by certain clubs.
