Ian Dennis BBC football reporter has tweeted this today.

We are due at Moss Rose on 21st or maybe we will just be awarded the game if the situation can't be resolved.

The players at Macclesfield Town have issued an ultimatum to the owner that they will not be training or playing on Saturday if they are not paid by 6pm tonight.

Edit - more here.

Macclesfield: Players threaten strike if wages are not paid on Monday - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/50634040

Their demise, which has been speculated for some while, would have quite an effect on the top of the table if previous points gained against them are wiped out. Exeter would lose 3 points, Colchester 1, Newport 1, Swindon 3, Cheltenham 3 and Bradford 1.

IMHO to see a Club in such difficulties and with the posibility of going out of business is MORE important then thinking about the points situation.

Of course it is, however it’s worth speculating as to the effect it will have.

Or even improving a team's chances of avoiding relegation by reducing the numbers exiting the league!

Don’t be silly. There’s not a green supporter out there whose first thought won’t be ‘how does this affect Argyle?’. Doesn’t mean we wouldn’t be sad if Macclesfield went bust, and I don’t want it to happen. Speculation is what Pasoti is all about.

There's only one relegation spot this season as it is. If Macclesfield went the same way as Bury then I'd imagine no-one would go down at all.

Which would be good news for Derek...

Clearly a difficult situation.

Note though from a PAFC point of view (assuming that's allowed :D ), no ticket information yet for this on 21st. but details of Cheltenham tickets on 26th are on club site.

If no one were to be relegated this season it would make a mockery of the league, how many teams would keep fightng hard come the end of the season with nothing to play for when in normal circumstances they would be fighting like mad?

We have all been waiting for the bubble to burst in the Premier league but this is never going to happen, instead clubs from the championship down are over paying their players and leaving huge gaps in the hope of better revenue through promotion and Cup runs.

At some point in the very near future someone has to make a decision on where we go from here, are we to allow clubs of whatever stature to keep doing this and going to the wall or does someone grab someones balls and sort this mess out?

At this rate we are going to have clubs being removed mid season on a regular basis and the league structure messed around so much we would be better served having small leagues like Scotland than big ones we just about have now.

It's a sad state of affairs to be in this position, sad for fans, families, business and town/cities everywhere that this can and does happen almost weekly.

The Premier league/sky started this chain, now we need someone to break that link, let's get our leagues and football clubs back.

Spot on LG. The average loss in the Championship last year was £11 million. The financial model of nearly all efl clubs is unsustainable, relying on owners with deep pockets, which can only work as long as they remain personally solvent. If not we have a Bury or a Macclesfield. I think we could take a leaf out of American sports association’s books. I understand that their associations for football, hockey, basketball etc simply won’t allow member clubs who are not financially stable, with caps to prevent overspends on wages and transfers.

Given their obvious cash flow issues, I’d be surprised if they sent any tickets down for Argyle to sell and take a small % of. They’d get 100% of OTD takings.

Although the way it’s going you’d be surprised if the game was on.

£180k? At Macclesfield? That’s utterly ridiculous. He was only there for a few months wasn’t he?
