Anoraks 46 - simply goal scorers!

These three players totalled 692 games and 310 goals for Argyle in careers which covered the immediate post war era up until almost the present day.

Which scoring feat do they share - two of them achieved it at Home Park and one of them elsewhere. What a trinity of strikers they make!

I guess a clue is more than overdue after three blank days!

One of the strikers concerned is RR and he did it most recently.

Wakefield have something in common with the victims of the first striker.

Think FA Cup glory!

A hat-trick in a cup game ? One against Gainsborough Trinity
(who share an unusual name with the Wakefield rugby league team) ?

I'm shooting in the dark here, so quite likely completely wrong.

The three strikers were: Maurice Tadman, Wilf Carter and Reuben Reid.

Tadman started the trinity so to speak away at Gainsborough T in Nov 1950. It was repeated at home by Carter vs Dorchester in Dec 1957 before Reid completed the same feat at home vs Lincoln City in Nov 2013.

Mike Bickle v Corby?

Argyle won 6-0 in 1966 or 1967.....one of my very first games at Home Park - thought it would be all glory from there forward.

At centre forward for Corby that day was a lad called Alec Garden, formerly with Argyle. He played only one first team game for Argyle, a cup tie against West Ham. He finished up losing 6-0.
