With the likes of Spurs having just agreed £175 million loan scheme from the bank of England maybe this explains the lack of help for lower league clubs

Last month it was suggested that PL clubs chip in just 2m each as an interim measure to help the lower leagues. One south coast club said they couldn't afford it.

In fairness clubs in the premier league might have huge incomes but they also have huge expenditures. Even a club like arsenal will be finding it difficult right now - their ownership recently said that they are paying champions league wages on a Europa league budget. I don’t think there will be many premier league clubs with cash going spare.

Should Argyle be obligated to put money into non-league clubs?

It’s business (not) as usual for all leagues. In this scenario, charity will be a long way off.

How long ago was it stated that prem clubs didn't need crowds because of the TV money?.

I get some clubs will be on the edge or playing beyond their means at the lower end but I take it most of the premier is living beyond its means then :banghead:

The set up of the premiership could see of football if all is as bleak as it sounds

For those thinking that the Government are not helping football. Think again.

Spurs have just arranged an unsecured loan from Government's Covid Corporate Financing Facility for £175,000,000 at an interest rate of 0.5%. It is intended to cover their potential losses of match day income for the 2020-2021 season.

For the record, Spurs' wage bill is reported to be £179,000,000!

Meanwhile, the Culture Secretary still refuses to recognise the financial plight of the 71 EFL clubs. When he says 'Football is coming back' he still cannot see beyond the horizon of the Premiership!

The way to make Sky pass money on down to the EFL clubs is for those of you who have subscriptions to inform Sky that you will cancel them unless it does so.
The power lies in your own hands.....

We could have a situation where there's a B team league by stealth.

EFL clubs are financially struggling to sign players and pay wages and the Premier League have an abundance of young players who need to play games so with a relaxation of the loan rules the EFL could open the floodgates for hundreds of players from the Premier League to go on season long loans to smaller clubs.

At the moment the rule is no more than five loan players in a matchday squad of 18 but smaller EFL clubs might struggle to raise 13 players to complete a full squad.

The Rt Hon oliver Dowden CBE MP is the Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport.

Must admit I have never heard of him until now.

But he needs to know how the EFL Club's Supporters are feeling, especially when, yet again some Premier Clubs are getting privileges the EFL Clubs can only dream of receiving.

Do Argyle have similar resources to Prem League clubs? A non point.

I've said on a number of occasions that lower league clubs should have 5 available subs in a matchday squad of 16, rather than 7 from 18. This would enable clubs to save money by reducing the overall squad by 1 or 2. I think you'd find that most managers tend to use much the same subs time after time - there's always at least 1 or 2 subs who are unlikely to get game time.

Of course not. But it’s a bit like someone on minimum wage looking at someone on £80,000 a year and assuming that they have loads of spare cash. When in fact that person might have a mortgage of £2,000 a month and other committed expenditures which means that there actual spare cash reserves are pretty meagre.

It’s not a non point.

Do Plymouth Parkway have the same resources as Plymouth Argyle?

Every football club throughout the pyramid will be suffering financially.

I’d love a handout from Premier. Merely pointing out that we won’t get it. In the same way Plymouth Parkway won’t get one from the EFL. Get the point now ?
