I was intrigued to see our position after 37 games last season.
Comparisons after 37 and 46 games were:-

Courtesy of GoS League Table plus.

Oxford 21:12
Rochdale 22:16
Wimbledon 24:20
Argyle 12:21
Walsall 19:22
Scunthorpe 15:23
Bradford City 23:24

It shows how positions can change in the last 9 games.

Delighted and relieved to be in League 1 next season, though.

It’s interesting to note that Argyle and Oxford swapped places. They could be in the Championship next season.

If you look at the L2 table after 37 games two years ago, the team in third place were..... Notts County

Somewhat misleading, 12th looks pretty healthy but we were still only 5 points clear of relegation and struggling to score goals or to keep clean sheets.

After the win in game 37 which lifted us up to 12th, we then had a run of 2 Draws and 6 Defeats before a too little-too late Win on the last day of the season; the rest is history.

Now that it is history, I would love to hear Derek Adams’s view on the last 10 games of the season. The injury time equalisers 2 weeks on the trot at home Bristol Rovers and then away at Blackpool were absolutely crucial, not to mention Sunderland’s pathetic last day performance at Southend. So glad they stayed down again.

Every Adams' season tailed off badly, it was no surprise where we ended up. One of the things that struck me most towards the end of last season was that we seemed to be getting stronger and stronger.

I know these things happen in football, but in all my years of supporting Argyle those last 9 games was the worst spell of performances that I can recall. I know I should be over it, especially after this season's achievement, but I still feel angry about it. I'd still like to know what the hell happened, is there an 'insiders' explanation at all?

Not quite but I see your point. Adams had a problem motivating his team in end of season crucial matches for his first two seasons and then the following two seasons we tailed off badly.

2016:play off final - a incredibly flat performance at Wembley
2017:Last day at Grimsby - all we needed was a win to be champions. Champions for gods sake. That was deflating and galling to have it snatched from us by Pompey
2018: Just missed out on the play offs. We were in the play off positions from match day 34-41 and then tailed off.
2019: Terrible last few games to plummet from 12th to 21st and relegation on goal difference. 3 points in the last 6 games....

Easy to say so now but there was definitely a problem there.

Another quirk from recent seasons in 2013/14 - where we were in the playoff places in 7th with 9 games to go. We ended up finishing closer to the relegation zone than we did the playoffs!
