Website Football League World has an article about the most dreadful Argyle signings of all time... FLW ...(careful, it's laden with adverts) and lists Taribo West, Nadir Ciftci, Emile Mpenza, Rhys Griffiths and Simon Church.

You have to factor in costs so Steve MacLean (still our record signing) or Kenny Cooper or Peter Swan would be my choice for Argyle's worst ever signing.
Who would you choose?

Surely any club's worst signing has to have a negative impact on the club's overall fortunes rather than just being rubbish.

On that basis no-one comes close to Swan. He also cost a fortune just to rub salt in the wound.

Steve Maclean!!

Purely based on paying £500,000 for him, which i understand is a record for the club, for what he produced for us was appalling

Mpenza was a very good player for Argyle in the few games he played. The problem was his wages versus the limited amount of game time he had. £10K a week was huge for little Argyle, but I seem to remember Sturrock saying that it was pretty much the going rate for a good striker in the Championship at that time.

If you want some really sh1te Argyle players, there are too many to mention.
One of many that that spring to mind is Padi Wilson. Remember him ?

There's several players from the David Kemp era who deserve a mention, although needs must at the time.
Morrys Scott (or was it the other way around?) springs to mind.

Mark Quamina and Adam King spring to mind.
