I'd love to see Palmer back here.

But that would mean Cooper and McCormick would pretty much be redundant this season. So I don't see that happening !

So we either need to sign a free agent or a loan keeper until January. Either way the keeper needs to be happy sitting on the bench or playing in the Every Fan Laughing Trophy.

Assume it will be a short term loan with option to extend in case Mccormick needs longer recovery or surgical intervention.

Although possibly we might pick up a free agent given the number of players released over summer.

Be interested to know how close to our salary cap we might be, especially if Reeves or Miller or both join. Maybe contracts are highly incentivised to circumvent the cap restrictions.

I think short term loans finished about 3 years ago with only 6 months being the minimum loan although the rules might be different for keepers.
For emergency loans every first team keeper at a club must be unfit to play.

I thought Palmer had gone to Lincoln?

Ah OK. Thanks for clarification.

Makes salary cap position even more relevant.

He hasn't gone yet:
The loan of Palmer, who helped Plymouth win promotion during a loan spell in Devon last season, hinges on the Baggies signing a new keeper themselves.

And Albion are close to finishing a deal to sign Brighton stopper David Button.

When that happens, according to Birmingham Live, Palmer will be loaned out, with the Imps his most likely destination.

I would rather us get a younger keeper in on loan for the season, from a Premier club, or championship club, and move McCormick on.

Luke is now 38, and the injuries will take longer to heal. He’s too old.

He could do a good job at Parkway of Truro etc.

Doesn't sound like Luke's injury is that bad so maybe a short term loan or something is all that's required. He role is probably partly a mentoring one as well.
