I don't know the answer to this one - if I did it might just have been Anoraks 51!

Have Argyle ever scored a faster season's opener than Jephcott's in 3 mins on Saturday?

GoS only started showing goal times roughly 2006....so difficult to check out.

BUT.....
Last year McFadzean scored in 4 mins.
2009...Timar scored in 5 mins.
2008...Fallon scored in 7 mins.

Long memories or marked programmes are needed beyond that.

Surely someone has ?

Pretty sure Peter Swan scored an early goal in the infamous 5-1 defeat at home to Brentford, but as you say there's no way to be sure.

Since it was a relegation season I thought I would check in Snakes and Ladders and the Swan goal on debut came in 18 mins. It was all down hill after that!

For what it's worth Nicky Forster, also on debut for Brentford from Gillingham, scored twice, and again in the 7-0 drubbing Argyle took in the return game. He eventually scored 24 goals in the League as Brentford lost out in the play-offs. He had been linked with Argyle in the summer and would have been a great signing. Nicky was an ex-student of mine and had a pretty good career over many seasons. Such a pity that some of them were not at Home Park.

11 seconds, but it wasn't a season opener. Might have been around Christmas time.

It was indeed Nick Chadwick who scored in 11.23 seconds against Crystal Palace in the week before Christmas in 2005. I remember it well as I got a text from a Palace mate in the Barn Park End, "Thought the game was pretty even until you scored". I don't think a Palace player touched the ball.

Capaldi scored with the last kick to make it 2-0 in the 94th minute which made it the longest gap between consecutive Argyle goals which i don't think has been surpassed even with the extended added on time these days.
