1) Lowe elected to keep with the 4 at the back formation of recent games with Watts replacing Lewis at left-back and Opoku into the middle. Woods nowhere to be seen so obviously his injury was a significant one. Tomlinson and Lolos again on the bench and again no sign of MacLeod. Hardie and Ennis continued their partnership, with Jephcott on the bench.

2) Argyle started poorly, not creating much and looking sloppy at the back. Shrewsbury pressing all over the pitch. They won a number of free- kicks and corners in quick succession but we rode our luck with Cooper making a good save from an Opoku sliced clearance. At the other end when Mayor got involved we looked a lot better.

3) Watts looked a bit ploddy at left-back and didn't really create the opportunities in partnership with Mayor that Grant and Lewis both have. Camara looked a lot more involved than recent games. Grant was a little anonymous. The first 45 was dull, midfield battle with little creativity for either team.

4) We looked to be continuing the Wimbledon second half performance with the forwards living off scraps. To my eyes we needed to go back to 3-5-2 to get us more width, battering down the middle just wasn't working. Camara got booked for a clumsy foul. From the free-kick Aimson missed his header and Shrewsbury had an opportunity that they put over - thus ended the first 45.

5) No changes at halftime but an early chance for Ennis produced a good save from the Shrewsbury 'keeper. Shrewsbury took the lead, Watts played a player onside and Cooper could do nothing to stop a deflected drop into the net. We almost conceded a second moments later but a good block from Opoku.

6) Argyle swapped to 3-5-2 with Grant moving to LWB. Argyle briefly looked much improved. Lolos and Jephcott replaced Hardie and Ennis with 25 or so to go. The change took some of the forwards movement out of the Argyle attack and Shrewsbury got the opportunity to come back into the game.

7) Fornah, Camara and Edwards replaced by Lewis, Reeves and Moore. All the changes had an air of "show me" about them. Almost immediately Grant made a classic back pass mistake and the game was over. Shrewsbury added a quality third that needed someone to close it down - where was Reeves?

8 ) Nobody had a great game, nobody had a shocker, Watts as a left-back perhaps shouldn't be repeated. Aimson or Fornah perhaps motm but it is difficult to pick anyone. None of the changes seemed to have a positive effect. Close to the end Mayor went on a run that beat 5 or 6 players before he passed straight to a Shrewsbury player - it summed up the day from an Argyle perspective.

9) A totally forgettable game with a score line that flattered the home side, who deserved the win but not the score. Hopefully Lowe will now abandon the 4 at the back experiment. Defeat shouldnt matter in the grand scheme of things but we've now had 100 minutes of fairly dire football and regardless of frailty I would prefer to see the flowing football of the early season.

Argyle made two changes for the trip to a windy Montgomery Waters Meadows, with Watts coming in for Lewis and Opoku, back from suspension, replacing Sam Woods. With those changes, it looked like a revert to 3-5-2, but now we have a plan B, it could still be a 4-2-2-2, but it was 4-4-2.

Shrewsbury had the better chances in the first half, with Whalley missing the first and last chances of the half when well placed to hit the target. The first one on 10 minutes went wide of the far post and the chance just on half time, Whalley volleyed over from 8 yards with a clear shot.

The nearest Shrewsbury actually came to scoring was a deflection off Fornah´s boot from a cross which forced Cooper into pushing against the post and away for a corner. Following a couple of successive corners, Ex Argyle Norburn had a good chance on 17 minutes when his shot went inches wide of the far post and millimetres from connecting with Udoh boot right in front of the goal.

Argyle´s attacking threat seemed to be continually snuffed out buy a strong Shrewsbury defence. All of our attacks came down the left, with Mayor´s quick feet, Grant´s first time passing and Camera´s driving forward runs our best features of a first half where we had not one shot at goal.

Camera was booked on 44 minutes for what did not look like a booking to me, and Norburn seemed to have got away with exactly the same foul on Mayor minutes earlier.

The second half opened with Argyle having their best chance with Mayor doing good work to set up Ennis whose shot from inside the area well saved by the keeper on 46 minutes.

On 53 minutes, Whalley shot, hit Aimson and looped up into the net beyond Cooper. 1 v 0.

On 60 minutes Argyle changed formation to chase the game and to their 3-5-2 style. Shortly after, Jephcott and Lolos came on for Ennis and the ineffectual Hardie.

Goss hit the bar direct from a corner and had two other goal bound shots as Argyle struggled.

Norburn got his just deserts on 74 minutes when he was booked.

Further Argyle subs were made, Lewis, Reeves and Moore came on for Fornah, Camera and Edwards and almost immediately after Grant inexplicably put a pass back straight to Whalley who rolled the ball in from 15 yards. 2 v 0 on 77 minutes.

Ogbeta sealed the points on 81 minutes when his curled shot from 20 yards beat Cooper. 3 v 0.

Our forward line looked as weak today as pretty much any game we have seen this season. Hardie was, sadly, pretty awful, losing every challenge. Nothing changed with Lolos and Luke.

Since the Shrews second goal, our play just got more and more sloppy.

Aimson, our best player today, headed wide from a corner with the last play of the game.

I shot on target from us, 14 for them said it all.

that was a shambles ,we play way to much in our own half, got to feel sorry for players trying to earn new contracts, with players around them already thinking of summer...

I am genuinely perplexed how you can get essays out of that lacklustre performance where only one chance was created.

Another match to add to the pile where Lowe’s tactics were seen coming up the M5, understood and nullified.

We need to add other dimensions to our match preparation. When we get found out it is just painful to watch, our players on the ball with no-one to pass to except the opposition, no direction to run except towards a tackle. Our players don’t seem to move to find space, they just stand and watch their teammate in no man’s land with nothing on.

We won’t do much better next season when teams can just watch videos of other average teams stopping us from playing with relative ease.

We won’t have the momentum of promotion behind us next season, so having nothing except this slow predictable possession play is concerning. All season to develop something different and we still haven’t managed it, although we have just about worked out a way to win a match with 4 at the back instead of 3.

First half was okayish, 2nd half terrible, as is usual now, whatever Lowe puts in the tea, STOP IT

Watts is an awful LWB and an average CB, far too slow even for League 1, Aimson the only player coming out of the game less than embarrassed. Far too many balls played backwards, ponderous build ups, "safe" play which is actually asking for trouble. No one willing to take a risk.

Reeves isn't the answer to anything, Lolos looked naive and Jephers, well less said the better. Mayor is becoming a problem too, he does lovely shimmies and turns but never any end product, why can't he strike a football like he did at Bury?

Another second half collapse, another goal conceded within the first 10 minutes of the second half and another game where the substitutions do not have a positive affect on the team.

We are a soft team, as shown by only coming from behind to win a game once in the league this season.
The team doesn't scrap and fight.

This season is just about over for the players and fans, although the team deserves some credit for ensuring League One football for next season with 6 or 7 games to spare.

We'll either beat Hull on Saturday 1-0 or lose by 4 or 5, nothing in-between. :)

When does the cricket start?

Well that was pretty painful to watch. They had sussed Mayor out as he ran into a road block most of the time. Except for Cooper and Aimson very below par performances from everyone.

Throughout the course of the season we have given teams extraordinary easy goals. Today with that Conor Grant back pass was just another example. He didn’t even look. Even if it went to an Argyle player what on earth would he do with a stupid pass like that?

Remember what Lowe said after Ipswich. I don’t ask my players to pass it sideways / backwards. Well somebody is telling them and if these players are doing this of their own free will then they need to go because their decision making is appalling.

When this season have Argyle been given these types of gifted goals??

We simply need better players. Players with a final ball. Players with better decision making. But most of all players who can pass the football to a green shirt.

Watts at LB?? Come on Lowe. That’s just shoehorning in a player into a system. I’m very concerned now about Lowe’s tactical nous before, and most crucially during games. He completely lost the plot reverting back to a 3-1-4-2 in the second half. It doesn’t work with these set of players.

That brings me on to another appalling second half. At what point of the season is this going to be addressed? I’d say with 6 games to go it’s too late now. Very, very frustrated Argyle fan.

Can't be bothered to comment on such a poor showing.

Only observation is Moore on an appearance bonus? In our last three he has been used as sub - at Blackpool he played a right side midfield role replacing Camara. Against Wimbledon he replaced Ennis up front, today on for Edwards as a RWB.

He hasn't impressed at all this season, why waste our time trying him in a variety of roles now? Rather see some youngsters blooded - suspect they couldn't do worse and surely Moore won't be here next August so what's the point in throwing him on?

Argyle can’t defend.
And I’m beginning to wonder whether Lowe and his coaching staff know what they are doing in that area of the team.

Let's hope Lowe is in the dressing room telling them that was crap and if you want to play that way for Argyle, you can do one!
Let's hope our board members are saying to Lowe that was crap and if you want Argyle to play that way, you can do one, too!
