Richly deserved, Joe Edwards

In a crazily inconsistent season he's been a pillar of consistency and has surely earned himself a new two-year contract.

RL's first signing and arguably the best.

Very pleased for Edwards. He certainly deserves a new contract and it’s always been clear how much he respects the club and enjoys being here. Delighted also for Cooper. He’s been blooded now, and can really push on in his career. He has a big future if he wants it.

4 Sunderland players in that team!!

If you look on the Sunderland forum (link on pre match thread), there is a fair amount of astonishment that the right back is included and general disbelief that the keeper is in the team.

It seems the teams were selected a couple of months ago and not a real reflection on the whole season, with a notable exception that Wyke is selected.

I heartily respect their opinion and hope their keeper and right back both have mares tomorrow!! :scarf:

It was also interesting to note on their site with a topic about players to retain Fadz was not recommended by one person to give a new contract
