Farewell 3rd division. 45 rpm 1975

Just heard Adrian Chiles announcing that he will shortly be interviewing a character who has over 1000 45 records all devoted to football, and available to listen to on 45football.com, where all teams are listed.

Looked up Argyle and see that we produced a team single following the 1975 promotion, with words to the tune of Tipperary. Probably well known to old timers, but new to me.

I have it. Haven't played it since then. Absolutely dreadful from what I remember.

I had one but God knows what happened to it.

On a green disc if I remember correctly.

My dad gave his copy to me but I haven't heard it in years since it's vinyl and I'm not a hipster so don't have anything to play it on.

I quite liked it, though the B side was terrible. It was also set to a popular tune (though I can't remember which) and went something like "Ohhhh, what a champion side, what a champion side, what a champion side...." and so on and so on.

There was one particularly ropey part during the final rendition of the chorus when the lyrics were sung really quietly and then REALLY LOUD to scare the bejesus out of anyone having the misfortune to hear it.

As Mervyn said, it is sung to the tune of ‘It’s a long way to Tipperary’.
You can find it on the 45football.com website by locating ‘Plymouth Argyle’ on the list of teams.
Then you can click on the disc and listen to it.
