Does anyone have any knowledge of when Lowe will complete his Pro License? I thought I read it would be this summer but obviously Covid may have interrupted the course timelines.

The FA stopped all face-to-face classes due to Covid and as far as I'm aware they haven't yet started up again yet.

That said, there's a big chunk of the Pro course that you need to complete at a club, and I'd imagine they've moved a lot of the theory stuff online, so I doubt there will be much of a delay to RL qualifying.

He did mention after the Gills game he would have completed it by June 21 in time for Pre season starting on June 24

Does not having a pro license to date impact on anything Lowe can do from a management perspective? Or is it just the case that you are told by the FA that you must get one within so many years of becoming a manager?

Ah that's good to hear, bit less of a distraction as well then if he doesn't have to head to the FA base midweek.

I believe that there was not a stipulation on getting Pro License at all at this level. You only are required to have an A license or be studying toward one like Rooney if other members of your staff hold an A license.

Means nothing although football managers like to big it up when they have one, bit like having a driving licence but can can still be a rubbish driver.

You can't compare passing a driving test to continuing your professional development as a football coach. The comparison might work if drivers had to further their skills by undertaking further courses every few years - some of which lasted at least a year.

The FA Level 1 is aimed at the lowest common denominator - any old idiot can pass it. Beyond that it gets much harder. I did Uefa B last year and it was the hardest thing I've ever done - culminating in a lengthy presentation I had to give in a room full of FA instructors and coaches.

The Pro course will be even more extreme and I have no doubt it'll enhance Ryan Lowe as a football coach and manager. To say it means nothing is ludicrous.

We will no doubt see how valuable a UEFA A coaching badge is worth when we are struggling once again come April next season. Lowe banged on about playing the game properly and the new brand, the games last season were dismal and to have another badge on his track suite will make no difference what so ever. For me having to go on a coaching course when you have spent most of your life in the game is a bit like learning an apprenticeship after you have retired. Footballers should be allowed to express themselves and not have the entertaining aspect of playing coached out of them, football is a simple game only made difficult by those in authority. What part of the coaching manual does it state that a manager should accept defeat gracefully and not to blame everyone else, to make comments like it was a soft goal to give away are to me total garbage, most goals are defendable, it only becomes a real issue when you are constantly making the same mistakes, Last season I often wondered what the players do on the training pitch as it became so predictable how a game was going to pan out, I am sorry Woodsy Green but a coaching badge is not going to change our fortunes other than being told by Lowe that his on the course along with whoever, he will now be saying his got his badge. The whole thing is rigged towards managers and coaches of professional clubs, can you imagine these men and women failing, not a chance. I have met many coaches with a UEFA B qualification who have stated the same.

The unfortunate thing about football managing is that you have an opposite number who will probably have the same qualifications as you and wants to win the match just as much.

The coaching badge will have taught Ryan Lowe a lot but it isn't a silver bullet for winning football matches is it?

If Lowe qualifies then he will join Schumacher and Nancekivell who already have the UEFA A Licence.

When Lowe qualifies Argyle will be in the great position of having three coaches with the UEFA A licence at the club - Lowe, Schumacher and Nancekivell.

Letā€™s hope that one of them specialises as a defensive coach. Hopefully, the new defenders will be more receptive to good coaching methods.
At least, they have more experience.
