Youth team paid.

Just had a text off a pal who has a mate whose son plays for the youth team.

Apparently, their wages have been paid via a personal cheque.

Don't know who, but it looks as if someone has some decency.

if true promising news, money sounds like its been made available from somewhere, thursday being the day after the court hearing, if this money was coming from the argyle account, it looks possible they are hoping to clear the 700k, pay everyone and move on for the short term at least...got to be optimistic i suppose :)

I don't think anyone can be accused of being 'jaded' (aka cynical) in these dark times John.

Fill your boots if you want. :)

I wouldn't trust any of the NWO Directors to be honest.

Surely that will be from Ridsdale's personal cheque book won't it?

We're all saved I tell you! :?

The only way the first team (and staff?) will be paid on Thursday is if the Judge lifts the validation order which freezes the club's bank account because of the winding up order(s). The validation order can only be lifted if the HMRC debt is paid probably in full on or by Wednesday or by agreement with the Judge and/or HMRC.

The case could be adjourned because of time constraints for the Judge and HMRC to consider whether,

1. Argyle are trading insolvently or not because of the mess of the accounts (what is the debt exactly?). This happened in the Sheffield Wednesday case.

2. Whether the Ridsdale inspired recovery plan has any real legs - deals done on players going in January and where the £4m cash injection required at the beginning of February is actually coming from and proof that the company can continue to trade as a viable concern (including paying their current and future HMRC debt).

An adjournment will not normally lift the validation order so the players (and staff) will not be able to be paid until either the debt is paid off, he agrees to lift the validation order on Wednesday or the Judge consents at the reconvened hearing, whenever that may be (probably not more than 14 days).

If the first team have been told they are being paid on Thursday then hopefully this means we have managed to find some money from somewhere!!

This might be 2 + 2 = 5 but something in this story regarding yesterdays court case caught my attention:

The court heard how Plymouth Argyle FC owed Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs £500,000 and that Home Park Properties Limited owed £260,000. Ms Stonefrost said the tax debt had been reduced by £36,000 and that £140,000 was in a solicitor's account ready to be paid. A further £48,000 was paid following a payment from the Football League, she said.

They haven't been using earlier Football league payments (for Youths etc) to pay club debts have they?
