Torquay United striker Chris Zebroski has handed in a transfer request for family reasons as he no longer wants to commute.

Zebroski, who lives in Swindon, has been offered a contract extension by new Gulls manager Martin Ling, but no longer wants to commute to Devon.

"We're disappointed," said Ling. "We've offered Chris an extension to his contract, but he is insistent that now is the right time to move on and we respect his reasons.

"We will now be circulating his name to other clubs and looking for a fee that is right for Torquay United.

"His departure will obviously free up budgetary space and the money will be pumped back into the squad-building process at our club."

Zebroski initially joined Torquay from Wycombe on a season-long loan in 2007. He returned on a temporary basis at the end of 2009, signing a permanent deal shortly afterwards.

He would be a good player for us, but as he's stated he will be going east of Torquay!

Sparksy reported he's slapped in a transfer request...

Can't imagine he will be on his way back if he has trouble getting to Devon, as Plymouth is in Devon.

Also, did he slap in the request or did he place it, post it, email it, or throw it? :)

Because he's a damned good player . Anyone who watched Torquay at all last season or the previous season will tell you that . He wouldn't suit our game ( last 3 seasons) though as he needs the ball to feet or channel .
