Millwall Match - Lowest Police Category

I have just seen that the police have categorised this match as Category A, which means a minimal turn out from the police. Have they not learned any lessons from the JPT match against Exeter last year. They have already admitted they underestimated the potential violence threat that night. I hope the same doesnt happen again - mainly because has a club we will be in serious trouble.

I think police from the entire country will have allready began preparations for the West Ham v Millwall match this season.
This game will have no trouble in the slightest (at the stadium)

its not a long trip but if you were a millwall fan would you rather go to reading or plymouth on a tuesday night and its still going to cost what 50 or 60 pound for the day out at reading.

Well Millwall are no trouble

Are 1st season in the championship i had to get a train from Reading back to Plymouth for the 1st game of the season which was against Millwall

I get on the train wearing my green shirt and find myself in a carrage with a load of Millwall i thought oh crap

Instead they were brilliant with me they gave me a couple beers ( i was 17) and had a good chat with me and made me feel so welcome

When the train pulled into the station and the police were there to escort them i got bundled in with the group whilst trying to get out because i lived in pennycombe at the time but the policeman would not hear anything about it so the millwall fans all stoped and told the police man to let me bye as i not one of them

After the game i meet a couple down the old pennycomequick pub and had a very good night geting drunk with them

Real Millwall fans are nice people and get a bad rep due to past history

As with all clubs millwall have an element of trouble makers and have in the past been known to fight between themselves at the ground!

I remember millwall the first game back in the championship in 04. Alot of trouble on the lyndhurst steps and central park was abit sketchy on the walk back.

My uncle is in charge of policing Millwall home games. He says they've got a lot better in recent years, due to the club focusing more on being a family club and many of the fans (including the old hooligan element) growing embarrassed about their reputation. People are still kicked out at the Den but with very minimal fuss due to how the police approach the situations, even if an officer see's you do something wrong they won't kick you out until the cameras have backed up them, so most people now know that if the coppers tell you to leave then they've got you and you can't deny it, so just walk.

He also tells some good stories about how they "sort each other out" for example in Abdou's first season there someone shouted "oi you black c*** sort yourself out", to which an known "treatment" member replied with "stop the fa**ing swearing, there's fa**ing kids around, before proceeding to knock him out

Am I right in saying that they have banned away fans from those games? That should help a bit with stopping the trouble.
