Shocked when I heard the news earlier. John was a great guy who had been through so much in the last couple of years. Someone started a thread the other day asking why grown men collect autographs. Well John was one of those guys and loved doing it. Up until his first stroke he would regularly find out which hotel the away team were staying in and pay a visit, with others, and get the autographs. It was a passion with him. RIP John, you'll be missed by many.
Very sorry to hear this news. John was one of the gentlest people I think I have ever met,and having worked with him in the Yard for a few years I was lucky to get to know him well. I think perhaps a minutes applause at the appropriate time on Easter Monday would be a fitting tribute to a true Argyle man. RIP Pilgrim !
RIP John.
Ive known Johhny B for years both through Argyle and working with him for 14 Years in the Dockyard. I was his Line Manager for a few of them. I remember being shocked after his first Stroke and visited him regularly as he recovered in Mount Gould. His main concern was nearly always about getting back to HP and selling me the non winning 50/50 Tickets. It was a great relief to see him back there.
He would have the mickey taken over his Autograph collections but it was testament to his devotion to Argyle and how big a part of him the Club was. I've seen parts of it and comprehensive doesn't over it.
It often seemed to me, that there wasn't anybody who didn't know John, be that through the workplace or Argyle.
Sleep well mate. You'll be missed in so many ways.
Pete.
Ken Beale who hasn’t got access to a computer at the moment has asked me to send his and the 50/50 teams sincere condolences to the John Beynon family. John was a massive part of the 50/50 team and they are all devastated by the news. RIP John from all your friends and colleagues.
