Sadly, news is in that Alan Welsh has died.

He gave the greatest performance I've ever witnessed in the 3-0 hammering of QPR at Loftus Road in that League Cup run of ours back in the 70's.

Ad astra Welshy.

Such a shame. He joined Nigel's Memories FB page quite early on and always had time for the fans. RIP Alan. Thoughts are with his family and friends.

RIP.

Also scored at Birmingham in League Cup QF that season although his effort was rather overshadowed by Steve Davey's 30 yard volley. Well worth bunking off school for.

What a player he was, part of an exceptional Torquay team that almost reached the old div 2.One of those rare talents that we fans love he was a west country Stan Bowles.

RIP

A special game that was at QPR, the best Argyle performance I have witnessed and Alan Welsh was the pick of our team that night. RIP.

RIP Pilgrim
In the beginning the Universe was created. This had made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

I remember Welshy - he wasn't particularly quick but he kind of 'drifted' with the ball with his excellent close control. Could put in a wicked cross too. RIP Pilgrim.
