I was working in west Cornwall in the early 70's and I recall buying a WMNs on the way to work. I turned to the back page and I nearly collapsed at the sight of the terrific score of the previous night's game at QPR. R I P Alan Welsh. You made very happy memories for me.

Yes remember that team well. Should have won promotion that season was it 67/68 season.?
RIP

Possibly, they used to play on Friday nights. In those days they were our rivals not Exeter and Welsh was there talisman. Sadly lots of players from that era are leaving us.

That QPR night is my best ever football memory, once in a lifetime night. They were all great that night but he was literally playing out of his skin. Must have been best ever lifetime performances for some players that night! We would have beaten a combined Mars/Venus XI even in low gravity!!
I was on the terraces and I'm sure Welshy went past me a couple of times with the ball!

Thanks for the memories!

RIP Welshy. :nworthy:

I knew Alan pretty well during his Argyle years, and later with Bournemouth. Lovely man and a delight to watch on the field.
So sad to hear this; so many of "my" generation of Argyle players are now no longer with us. RIP Alan.

Along with everyone else on here I had the pleasure of seeing Alan Welsh play on numerous occasions including up in Birmingham who featured Latchford and Francis. A sad miss.
