Sad sad news. I remember standing as a kid on the Lyndhurst watching Russell in Acton. A real ankle biter. Took game by scruff of the neck...as well as the opposition. RIP

Very sad news. Remember watching him, great on the ball and could pick a long pass. RIP

Very sad news - a player who gave his all / fine / proper midfield grafter - with skill too. Thanks for wearing the green, black & white with pride & for the memories. RIP.

Very sad news.

He was the ultimate midfielder - strong and yet skillful. When an opposition player was tackled by Russell he stayed tackled!

A big heart, legs like tree trunks and owner of a magnificent moustache!

RIP Pilgrim.

There has to be a minute applause on Saturday.

Just got in and seen this, what a shock. Everyone's already said what a great player he was. I can only agree with that. He was a respected player throughout the South West having played for all 3 Devon clubs. He's up there as one of the best in my time of supporting Argyle. A Welshman to boot. RIP Russell. Thoughts are with his family and friends.

I'm not a great lover of the minute's applause as a tribute so if we do something I hope it's a minutes silence.

An Argyle LEGEND taken much to soon - only 56 years old, not many players around like him nowadays sadly.

RIP Russell and my thoughts are with your family at this tragic time.

Tenacious, passionate and somebody that so obviously cared during some of our greatest periods of success. RIP.

RIP Fellow Pilgrim

Great player, oh to have a young fit Russell Coughlin in our side going into this season!!
I remember him once gazing over to the right waving someone (Nelson?) to make a run, without looking he pinged a beautiful ball way over to the left wing!! Sublime!!

What a player!! :nworthy:

A very sad loss.

My abiding memory was him being MOM first game of the 86 season - at Bradford's Odsal stadium my one and only trip there. Fantastic player, who could strike a ball with either foot, he and big John Matthews, often made us an absolute joy to watch
