Don't select a seat at the rear of the east end, looks like there will be limited vision, perhaps someone could confirm/deny this is the case?

£7M+ to refurbish the Grandstand but there will still be seats that cannot be used or which will have a restricted view? Surely not...

How do you expect a glorified lick of paint to improve the view from certain seats?

Any idea if /when the grandstand seats which are not taken by existing season ticket holders will be available to season ticket holders in other parts of the ground to transfer to ?

The only valid criticism in this restricted view/short stand point would be if this development prevented the corners being filled in the future, or the roof being extended in the future.

That would be a design flaw, which is a decision to criticise. Rather than simply not yet having the cash to do it, which isn't.

I don't know what it was like previously but this is what we've got now.

Well when I last sat there, the front row was not there so you were above the barrier and had a step up and down, the front row was just access, plenty of room and no-one in your way.
That 'new' front row looks a bit 'tight' to me. Wouldn't like to juggle two bovril & pasty meal deals along there!! ;)

That would be a design flaw, which is a decision to criticise. Rather than simply not yet having the cash to do it, which isn't.

It’s not about filling in the corners Biggsy, that would be very expensive but in any event, there is never likely to be a scenario where we would need the additional 5-6000 seats. No matter how good the refurbished Grandstand might look, we will have to get used to it with the end section missing and being book-ended by the two unsightly corners well into the foreseeable future, if not permanently.

With regards to future developments, the 2001 ‘horseshoe’ is also designed to permit a mezzanine level to be added around the 3 sides with another 3-4000 seats, but that’s never going to happen either.

In theory, the Home Park capacity could be brought up to something in the region of 28000 without too much trouble from an engineering perspective; however, that would cost very many millions and we are very unlikely to ever attract that sort of investment. More importantly, will we ever reach the Premier League and thus need that sort of capacity.

We are very fortunate to have the Halletts at our club who have made it possible for the Grandstand and Mayflower Terrace to be re-opened. Having a 3-sided ground has seriously detracted from the atmosphere.

Like all major engineering projects, there is a budget which dictates what can/will be done and there are priorities. I am very disappointed that one of the priorities wasn’t to actually complete the structure by taking it down to the Barn Park, as was originally intended 70 years ago. I doubt it will ever happen now. Money was found to purchase HHP (for whatever reasons), but there was no money available to complete the stand.

The major rebuild of the structure was the obvious time to add the missing section, it would certainly have been cheaper now than doing it a later date. It cost more to add the extra lane to the Tamar Bridge than it did to build it.

The completion of the Grandstand is now an integral part of the mythical Phase 2 and as such, it is never likely to happen.

Just make sure it has all 27 squares, not 22 or 23.

I am presently in row B at the Devonport end of the grandstand. I would now hope to be offered a row A seat which I lost a few years ago. They have removed the safety bar along the full length and put short lengths at the bottom of each set of steps.
In the new row A I would not expect all and sundry to walk along there as a row in line with the top of the steps has been left with just seat backs but no seats, which will enable people behind to access their seats further back. By doing this Argyle have gained extra seats because the new row A is longer than the blank row further back.
