Also, Stone Roses at Spike Island. Great day, epic atmosphere but terrible sound. Swirling all over the place.

Was that when Pantera supported them, 92 ish? I was there for that too.

That’s the one. The only plus was that I saw Dimebag Darrell in the flesh.

I’m not into music but I once saw Billy Connolly at the Pier in Torquay and he was totally poor.

I’ve seen in a few times he was as you would expect witty, lightning quick and controversial but in Torquay he mumbled, seemed not bothered and dealt very poor with the two hecklers that’s night.

Strange.

You’re into football though so that’s ok

Comedy is a gig and I’m really disappointed to hear that Billy was rubbish. I’ve never seen him but god he’s made me laugh so much over the years. This wasn’t after his diagnosis was it? Or maybe a sign of things to come, GBH :nworthy:

I thought Megadeth were great  I was only 17 at the time though. Pantera were amazing.

Megadeth played ok, but wasn’t interested so listening to a cd would have sufficed. I was about 19 at the time.

Anyway, glad you enjoyed it. It’s all subjective as someone has posted about the Manics at the Pavilions, I really enjoyed that one, if it was the same one.

I’ve never liked going to gigs where it’s more as a favour to a partner or mate, especially if the artist in question is not of much interest to me. Occasionally it can be a pleasant surprise but often you just feel a bit bored and surreptitiously check your watch to see if it’s nearly 10.30 yet! Since the demise of Cream, I’ve never been much into Clapton (I know, genius guitarist). I went with a mate to see him at Poole Arts centre many years ago and was thoroughly underwhelmed.

On the other side, I enjoyed the Levellers more recently at the Pavilions when I didn’t expect to.

The Levellers never put on a bad show from experience. Think I must've seen them about 10 times by now.

The Manics gig was when they were touring Everything Must Go. Maybe it was partly me as I thought that it was a fairly underwhelming album compared to previous releases, but I just found the evening a bit flat. Met them and all three were lovely. Saw some excellent gigs at the Pavillions around the same time: Levellers, Radiohead (one of the best I've ever been to), Suede and the Flaming Lips.

Ah, the Manics gig I went to was when they released their greatest hits album and I really enjoyed it. I will agree that they haven’t been as good as they were with Richie, maybe they would have been better to quit after the first album.

Maybe it's just Torquay - I was disappointed with Jack Dee up there.

Or maybe that was Jack Dee.
