I seem to remember that about 20 months ago SWPL club Millbrook were struglling with a massive tax debt that threatened the club's very existence - and Pasoti members, along with the rest of the local football community, made significant efforts to help the club remain in business. The culmination of these efforts is quite a success story.
Millbrook is one of Cornwall's oldest clubs, founded in 1888. Their ground, previously known as Mill Park, was re-named in 2014 as Jenkins Park in tribute to their most famous former player, Reg Jenkins. He had spells at Argyle (1957-60), Exeter (1960-61) Torquay (1961-64) and Rochdale (1964-73). In 2004 Reg was voted Rochdale's best-ever player by their supporters.
Millbrook's recent revival saw them become the SWPL Division One champions at the end of last season.
The club volunteers have been very busy with ground improvements during the summer to comply with the FA's requirements for teams to play at Level 6 of the national pyramid.
A new spectator entrance, a facelift for the dressing rooms, new hard standing for spectators, new dugouts and technical area plus new floodlights are all a testament to the efforts of everyone involved at the club over the last 20 months.
According to Mike Sampson in the Sunday Independent the new floodlights were passed fit for use last Friday. Consequently, the kick-off for Argyle's SWPL game there on Tuesday has been switched from 6.30pm to 7.30pm.
The village of Millbrook is about 8 miles from Torpoint. Follow the B3247 into Millbrook. On reaching the Duke of Cornwall pub on your left, bear right into King Street. After the garage bear left onto the Parade (on your left. Follow the road round (with the lake on your right) and at mini roundabout bear right down Southdown Road. Take next right and Jenkins Park is on the right.

65: Millbrook 1-2 Argyle

Argyle controlling the second half and get their goal. It’s been a really mature display from Millbrook defensively but they’re finally undone.#cornishfootball#upthebrook

Really poor considering mainly professionals playing against builders, postmen, milkmen, chemist, carpenter and doctors.

On paper yup, they should have won no doubt. In reality, against a team that play together week in week out, on their home pitch (a 'real' pitch which definitely added an element of random bounces and doesn't aid smooth styles), who really rose to the challenge, it didn't happen. Millbrook took their chances, Argyle had more but didn't have the conversion rate. The skill and fitness gap were obvious, but Argyle couldn't/didn't kill the game and were frustrated, especially the player who lumped the ball at the final whistle into the windscreen of a parked car  (an off target moment that kinda summed up their game! )
