Hard rock band Kiss sells brand and songs for $300m

The band's distinctive look and entire back catalogue is sold to a Swedish music investor for around $300m.

Yes, I believe there are plans for an ABBA Voyage-style holographic extravaganza, so buying the brand as well as the music could prove a very shrewd long-term investment. I was never a fan but I can see how a never-ending virtual live Kiss show could appeal for many years to come.

It's usually Hipgnosis (a music rights outfit, not the old album design house) that snaps these things up, although I read something a while back about their having overstretched themselves and being forced to sell off some rights on the (relatively) cheap.
