I was there too. Loved Deadly. Dad and I went to every Oval test match for years. Dad was at the Oval when Bradman got nought in his test match.

We used to watch Kent play when they were at Dartford.

I had a double-take when I read that: I could have sworn I read he had died a few years ago. My memory must have been playing tricks on me.

I was surprised he was *only* 86: that would have put in in his late 40s when he recorded Peter Gunn with Art of Noise.

I am sorry to have just found out that the author, CJ Sansom, died on 29 April.
One of, if not the best historical fiction writers imo. Age only 71.
I mentioned him and his novels on the 'Your best ever read...' thread some time back.
I only realised today as I have just seen that a series has been made of one of his 'Shardlake' books, 'Dissolution', I believe.
