Cattedown, Plymouth.
So now that we have achieved safety and the dust has settled a little bit. When is the right time for us as fans to go over the season and pick apart the best bits, the worst bits and where we could've done better?

Best Bits: Staying up! 6-2 at Home to Norwich, Leicester at home and seeing our "Only 1 Argyle" mantra come together when it was needed.

Worst bits: Schumacher and staff leaving, Azaz being recalled & Ian Foster's appointment and the form thereafter and the exclusion of playing staff.

What could we do better? The obvious one was relieving Foster of his duties earlier. I think the lack of a statement after the games against Blackburn & PNE could be a lesson especially when the majority of the crowd were voicing their frustrations in those games.

We have a lot of work to do on and off the pitch this summer - I'd like to see another "Football" person added to the staff to offer another opinion of things, but in what capacity? I'm not sure, maybe a consultancy role.

Best performance - Middlesbrough 0- Argyle 2 - not a mad goal fest where we scored more than the opposition but a totally dominating controlled performance - the one game where we got a glimpse of what Foster was trying to achieve
Worst performance - Argyle 0 - Wrst Brom 3 - dire in all respects
High - Leicester at home - not the best performance but the game that will define the season, the wall of sound will not be quickly forgotten
Low - Bristol City away - so much expectation for this game and the inexplicable team selection performed worse than we could have imagined

My target for the season was 50 points and safety. We did it, but that was not good for the nerves

Best - away to Middlesborough - a complete performance
Worst - Bristol City..
High - yesterday, closely followed by the Leicester match
Low - Helicopter boy doing the dirty on us. Leaving is one thing, trying to rip the rest of the club out is unforgivable

Best performance -Norwich at home.

worst performance-WBA at home.

Best thing to happen- Surviving.

Worst thing to happen- The inevitable departure of Schumacher. There was never going to be a good time but right before the window opened was terrible.

Things we could have done better- succesion planning. Schuey was linked to EVERY available job and was apparently applying for some. We were never going to keep him and I’d of loved it if we’d of had potential targets in mind when he inevitably walked. Would have shortened the whole process and given us a bit more time to move on.( a lot of hindsight there though)

That 2-2 draw with Coventry which ended up being the single most important point gained which clearly saved us from relegation :p

...or it could be argued that we dropped two points as we deserved to win, and would have done had it not been for that bizarre late equaliser. That would have made last Saturday much more comfortable!

Totally agree, I was taking the mickey, so many were citing that one result out of the full list of 45 at that time for the reason we were in this position on the final day which of course is total nonsense.
Having been lucky enough to be at the Leicester home game I was quite confident that we were able to get a win v Hull, thankfully we did and now we have the opportunity to reset, remove the players not good enough for the Championship of which there are a few and add some quality.

An expected season Argyle did what was needed the goal was achieved

Just Not In The Way We All Expected!!

What an absolute roller coaster of a season Argyle and the owners and staff would have learnt alot and hopefully be a better more boring season next year hanging around mid table.

Best performance Last saturday
Best goal last saturday
Best thing to happen letting Foster go.

Boom We Did It

Last 9 months has been a roller coaster with no handbrake

Start of the season we were fearless , had a swagger, our creative juices were flowing

December came & the rug was well & truly pulled from under us with devasting consequences - backroom gutted , creativity taken in January for various reasons & an 87 day tenure which started in January went of piste & near enough destroyed all the good things that our beloved club worked so hard for

We were unrecognisable until 01/04/24 at 10:50pm when our pair of comfy old slippers dusted themselves down & put a mega size arm around our warriors in green

Best performance Leicester home when the footballing world saw the Argyle we know & love humble the ex-PL pre-madonna's - the SKY pundits did not know what to do with themselves

Best goal - Joebo our Lionheart warrior in green on Saturday to secure our Championship status after being shamefully ostracised by 87 day tenure man

Best moment - 01/04/24 at 10.50pm when we got our beloved Argyle back

Best performance. Leicester. We beat a bona fide Premier League side and didn't look in danger against them.
Worst. Take your pick under Foster really...Sheffield Wednesday away. Just an absolute nothing performance.
High. The final whistle yesterday.
Low. Schumacher leaving
Best goal. Azaz v Boro
Best individual performance. Edwards on Saturday.
Best opposition player. Eze. Crystal Palace. A joy to watch

Best performance QPR away 10 men gave everything that night
Worst Sheffield Wednesday they were so poor and we were leaderless in the dugout
But staying in the championship is one hell of an achievement it’s been a wonderful season

Best: Survival. A real achievement in this league. Rotherham away. We were poor that night but was the start of the resurgence. The shear relief all round was palpable.
Worst: The sequence of 5 goalless/winles home matches under Foster.
Better: Recruitment in Jan. Finding the right head coach that fits our mantra. Just look at QPR and Sheffield Wednesday who have got their men!

You couldn't say last season was dull. Staying up under the circumstances was a major achievement.

Best: Two £1 million pound players. Some amazing home performances in the first half of the season up-to-and-including Cardiff, plus Leicester and Hull.

Worst: Schuey leaving (plus most of the coaching staff) and one of the worst managerial appointments in Argyle history.
