Millwall - trains/parking

Looking for somewhere suitable to get the train to South Bermondsey.
Can anyone based in the area recommend an easy station either on the M4 corridor or off the M3 where I could leave the car & jump on a train?
Appreciate any feedback.

Plenty of nice places to drink around central london and then tube to the ground at the last minute. No need to mix with the locals.

There is no tube but you do want to get the train from London Bridge to South Bermondsey. There is a walkway from the platform all the way to the away end. Any sniff of trouble and the police will be all over it. Iā€™ve been a few times and itā€™s fine, as long as you donā€™t behave like a bellend.

Loads of nice pubs, restaurants and bars around London Bridge and Borough Market. For those who like their ales, would recommend The Rake, a small bar in Borough.

I live in Surrey so know the m3 and the area relatively well. Depends how far you want to come "into" London really. If you came off and went into Wimbledon and parked at the multi-story there then you can pick up heaps of trains that get you into Waterloo, then its Jubilee Line around to London Bridge and then a short 10 min train to South Bermondsey.

Most of the trains from Reading / M4 corridor come into Paddington, but Virginia Water which is just off the M25/M4 and that will go into Waterloo. You really want to be on a train, in my opinion, that gets you into Waterloo not Paddington. Its a pain in the arse getting to London Bridge from Paddington.

Other option/suggestion (it depends on how far out you want to park) would be somewhere like Woking which isnt far from the M3 at all, and heaps of trains to Woking into Waterloo.

Happy to chat directly if I can help any more mate

Yeah ill be drinking in Borough Market. Zero doubt about that. Great spot for food options, decent pubs, a "vibe"

The market Porter would be my choice https://themarketporter.co.uk/

Not sure there would be a direct route from that direction to South Bermondsey.

Your best bet might be to jump on at one of the Surrey commuter towns into Waterloo, then one stop on the tube, or train from Waterloo East, to London Bridge. From there, itā€™s a short hop yo South Bermondsey.

Simplest is to get to Waterloo.
Then walk across the concourse, up the escalator to Waterloo East rail station.
Then catch the next train to London Bridge rail station, just one stop.

I am starting off for a drink at The George Inn ā€“ 75 Borough High Street, SE1 1NH, an old coaching inn.

As an alternative for food, there is nearby:
Borough Market Kitchen (street food traders) and restaurants. Near London Bridge
"Surrounding the Market, youā€™ll find a complementary blend of restaurants, bars and shops."

Then, Train from London Bridge station to South Bermondsey Railway Station

I always go all the way up the M3 and then head for Hounslow. Piccadilly line from there into central London. Plenty of on street and multi storey parking to be found in Hounslow. Richmond is also easy to reach from the M3 and get the District line.
