2 of us in the car drove up to newcastle for that game that was called off got outside the ground about 1pm, also 1991 went to the game when marker went in goal 2 up and we almost made it 3 marshall hit the bar with an overhead kick, also remember a newcastle fan running on the pitch and punching robbie turner. went to wimbledon early eighties that was called off so our coach went to watch qpr v swansea funny thing was at the end of the game the police kept us in the ground then on the way home on the m4 some bright spark set off a sulphur bomb on the coach, good old day's.

Remember that day well, Washington service station before we got news the game was off after stopping and phoning at every service station on way up (pre mobile phone days for the youngun's scratching their heads).

Police wouldn't let us go to a different game (Boro was at home) and my parents wouldn't let me go to rearranged fixture as it was a school night (still not been there :( ).

I was only using that day as an example of why it could have been worse on the coach sat in the flooded Yeovil car park today, lol.
It was mboro v Leicester lee. Police couldn't have us all intermingling.
Thats harsh! Why wouldn't the police let you go to another game? Worried Greens would cause trouble or was it for your own safety? We're there many of you?

Where did you actually encounter the Police for them to inform you of this?

Just asking as that would've been completely heart breaking to me to have traveled all that way for nothing, and then trying to make the best of a bad situation so the day wasn't a total write-off only to have the police smash any hope of a plan B!
From memory there were 2 (maybe even 3) coaches.
There were plans for one coach to go to Boro and the other one to return home.
One of the police officers there spoke to a colleague at Boro who came back with the answer of nowhere to put a coach load of Argyle fans!

I I do remember a game against Bradford which was called off at half time because the pitch was freezing. It was so cold supporters on the terraces were allowed to sit in the grandstand. Bradford were winning when the match was called off. Argyle won the rearranged match 6-0

As LG said, we were on the official coaches, we got pulled in by the police at Washington service station just outside of Newcastle to be told the game was off, after being told Boro was a no go, the police outriders escorted us back down the Motorway until 3.05pm when they peeled off.

Was a bummer, but you don't win them all and I guess its a story that I have told many times to friends over the years, so part of my lifes tapestry, lol.

I recall going up to stay in Birmingham overnight for a game at Wolves that was called off at a pitch inspection the next morning. 70s or early 80s I think.

Remember a trip to wigan.called off for storm damage app 2 hours before kick off .3 call offs at Rochdale in one season .Got as far as manchester twice and Watford on the 3rd occasion .Eventually played it last week of the season I believe

I got to Darlington and Rochdale (first time around) from Oxford only to find both called off. Managed to get to the title-winning match at Feethams but had to miss the promotion winning game at Spotland. I couldn't believe the Darlington match was off as it was lovely weather when I travelled up country. We played in worse that season as I remember building a snowman at half time at Scunthorpe.

Did a trip down for the Leicester match at Home Park one Tuesday night a few seasons later which was abandoned.

I had been in Newcastle about 5 mins when news filtered through. I'll have to look it up, but we shot back down to Sheffield and watched Wednesday beat QPR 2-0, fairly sure David Hirst got one of the goals and Mel Sterland the other, cant remember for the life of me if Sheridan was playing.

My recollection of the re-arranged Newcastle game is bit sobering, we wrote to the club and moaned that having called Newcastle at various points on the way to the ground (from phone boxes, the last one being at Scotch Corner) - they insisted the game was fine and no inspection planned - they kindly sent us tickets for the game, but in the Main Stand, something very eerie about Kevin Hodges bearing down on goal within a minute of the start, forgetting where you are and going absolutely mental when he netted. Although you tend to quicky sit down and shut up with 10,000 toothless Geordies gurning at you. I think our prospects of safe departure improved greatly when Newcastle finally went in front!
