I see he's got no game this weekend. Is this just a coincidence or would his assessor have had a hand in it?

He is the fourth official for the Sunderland v. Stoke game on Saturday in the Premier League.

That is Keith Woolmer.

I have been reliably informed that KA Woolmer goes by the name Andy, the same official who took charge of the Argyle game on Tuesday:

I'm sorry BG but how is that not a red card? Most of the Orient fans have admitted he should have walked as well.

That photo doesnt prove anything.

I'd have second thoughts about playing in a game where you were the ref BG

Look at the view the referee has there, I could see that was a red card from the stand and yet he's right in line with it and cannot see how dangerous that challenge was.

You can't even excuse him with a poor angle or a blocked view, its the Wycombe handball in the playoffs all over again only this time a lad left the field unable to walk after no protection from the ref.

Apart from denying them a blatant pen today for a foul by Sawyer, and making a few silly mistakes, today's ref was actually pretty good.

I can speak from experience, being an official myself. When things aren't going your way, you know it sooner than the players and certainly sooner than the fans. What I don't understand is why the referee doesn't come out and apologise - if I have made a mistake, even if it's giving a throw the wrong way, 90% of the time I know about it and I'll speak to a captain or coach at the end of a game to explain. It's always well received and I get less abuse next time because of it. We're all human and I'm certain referees make less mistakes than players in every single match on earth.

This was a red card all day long, Simpson has left the ground and therefore has absolutely no control over his body once he's taken off. It's a red card on the grounds of endangering the safety of an opponent.

I was trying to say that it was not possible to tell from that 'still' how bad the tackle was as it is out of context. As it happens at the time I saw it I didnt think it was an instant dismissal just a bit late. Players mistime tackles all the time. You cant send a player off because the opponent sustains an injury.
