John Savident, known for playing Fred Elliott in Coronation Street, has died aged 86, his agent has said.

First saw him in a bit part in the film Battle of Britain, where he gives stuffy Dowding’s that days scores. I did not watch Corrie much, but the few times I did his character booming I say was probably the most memorable of few characters I can remember.

I loved watching Stan play. Such a gifted player.

As a coincidence:

In August 2015, following his Alzheimer’s diagnosis, QPR held ‘Stan Bowles Day’ at Loftus Road, dedicating their Championship match against Rotherham to Bowles as part of their events paying tribute to the 1975-76 team - regarded as the finest in club history - 40 years on, presenting him to an adoring crowd.

Their opponents on the day of his death.............. Rotherham.

RIP Stan. Thoughts are with his family and friends.

Brilliant player. Played in the 1973 League Cup game that Argyle won 3-0, en route to the semi final.

It was always said that if could have passed a betting shop as well as he passed the ball, he would have had lot less problems.

Two sad pieces of news, I couldn't believe Richard Lewis and Larry David were born so close together, given how much younger Larry seemed to be.

Blackberry Smoke drummer Brit Turner has died from a brain tumour aged just 57.
They released their latest album last week on which he played.
They are a great band live and he will be missed.
RIP.
