Yeah, this one stung. Must have seen Shellac 20 or 30 times. Was meant to be seeing them next month. One of the greats.
Really saddened by this. I thought his high levels of spite would keep him going for eternity! Not to mention he was also teetotal and didn't use drugs.
Whilst many will not have heard the bands he was in, they certainly would have heard and enjoyed some of the albums he would have produced.
Can remember hearing Big Black on the peel show for the first time. A beautiful racket

I know it's a bit late to report the death of Toni Smith, a magnificent singer who died in 2020 aged just 42. It's just that I heard Jamaica Funk, the song today funnily enough for the first time for quite a while. A fantastic jazz funk sound from 1980,one of the best ever songs in my humble opinion. If you, ve never heard it find it on Utube and watch Toni giving a fantastic performance. Just thought I, d bring this to you, good night.Oh the originator of the song is Tom Browne who co wrote it along with Toni Smith, enjoy 👍
