1) No recognised wing backs in the starting 11 so Moore one side and George Cooper on the other. Telford alongside one of the Grants in attack. Riley fit enough to make the bench. The team had a very attacking look about it.

2) Argyle dominates the first 20 with Sarcevic having a driven shot well saved then Mayor hitting the upright/bar. Moore and Cooper dominated proceedings and Argyle were indoctrinated not to be in front.

3) Between 20 and 35 the game was more even though Morecambe never looked like scoring despite getting into some good positions whereas Argule had a number of shots from distance that went over or wide.

4) The last 10 minutes of the first 45 was all Argyle. Telford was in a foot race with the centre back to go 1v1 with the keeper, he was felled by a flailing arm and Huxtable sent the defender off. Cooper gave us the lead with a placed free-kick. A couple of minutes later and it was 2. Joel Grant felled in the box and Sarcevic thumped home the penalty.

5) Damage limitation seemed to be the key for Morecambe in the second half. Argyle were set the task of breaking down a resolute Morecambe defence. Cooper went close with another free kick then Telford and Sarcevic went close.

6) With 25 to go Rudden replaced Grant. Almost immediately Morecambe forced a save out of Palmer, his first meaningful action of the game. Into the last 20 and Conor Grant came on for Sarcevic. Rudden managed to put over when it would have been easier to score.

7) Argyle lost their way a little for a while, trying to over complicate things and losing the ball cheaply. A more ruthless team would have racked up a cricket score. Argyle replaced Telford with Clarke. Eventually we added a third through Conor Grant.

8 ) No one had a poor game in a green shirt although we didn't look as sharp once Grant and Sarcevic were replaced. The game seemed to mean a lot to Wootton who had one of his best games in a green shirt. Moore had a good game as did Sarcevic

9) Adams got a frosty reception after he did one of his trade mark wanders into the Argyle technical area after Mayor was heavily tackled late. "We're not boring anymore" and "we're just a bunch of yobbos" sang the Devonport

‪A professional job, we were the better team throughout, we never looked in danger, we could have upped a gear but no need with another fixture Tuesday. Loved how all the players ran to Lowe after the first goal. Everyone played well, the two wing backs, Cooper & Moore, in particular.

I’m so pleased to finally see us playing with genuine attack minded wing backs ... I think we should stick with this team for the next match.

A regulation win.

The game was done and dusted in the two minutes leading up to half time with a red card for Morecambe player Sutton, a subsequent free-kick scored by George Cooper and Antoni Sarcevic netting a penalty after Joel Grant was brought down.
The Hux gave those two decisions and Morecambe can have no complaints, in truth it was poor defending from Morecambe, especially for the penalty because there was no need to bring down Grant.

The second half was more of a training ground exercise, our lack of urgency cost us from scoring a shedload of goals, although it can be difficult playing against 10 men, we did score a third goal late in the game.
The second half was perfectly set-up for Danny Mayor to finally take a game by the scruff of the neck, he didn't take the opportunity and was once again one of our least effective players.
We also needed more from the front two, however they did win the free-kick and penalty that won the game.

I didn't hear a "welcome back to Derek Adams" on the PA system which if correct shows a lack of class from the club media department.
In true panto season Adams did sarcastically clap the Devonport End fans twice in response to their chants of "we're not boring anymore", although to his credit he did acknowledge the fans when they asked for him to give them a wave.
Even before the sending off Morecambe and you have to wonder that there must of have been better management jobs out there for Adams. Sadly Morecambe are going down and two successive relegations will not look good on Adams LinkedIn profile.

The two new wing-backs of Cooper and Moore were excellent and saw a lot of the ball which, apart from Morecambe having 10 men, contributed to our 73% possession and 22 attempts on goal.

The developed grandstand looked very nice, shiny and new.

With the absence of Edwards and McFadzean it was Moore and Cooper who took over the wing-back roles and both of them ran the game during the first half, everything went through them which aided our good start to the game.

Sarcevic had our best chance but his thunderbolt of a shot was tipped away by Halstead in the Shrimps goal, Mayor also hit the outside of the post with a shot.
Morecambe did venture forward but offered very little goal threat.

Just when it looked like it would be a frustrating afternoon a long-ball saw Telford give chase, catching up and overtaking Sutton the last defender who brought down the Argyle striker on the edge of the box, the Hux had a quick check with his linesman and issued a red card to Sutton.
It was about to get even worse for Morecambe and Adams because up-stepped Cooper to send a left footed free-kick around the red wall and into the net. It was the second time this week a red wall was easily beaten, this time it was the Greens and not the Blues.
Cooper, followed by the rest of the team, ran over to Lowe to celebrate the goal.

At least we can get to half-time with a one goal lead. Except the Hux and the Morecambe comedy defenders were not finished yet - Grant got in front of Kenyon who for some reason brought down the Argyle striker, it was just no need to do that.
The Hux pointed to the spot and Sarcevic fired home the penalty. 2-0.

Just how many would Argyle score in the second half against the bottom team who are down to ten men?

It wasn't the best second half we'll see this season. Coupled with Morecambe sitting deep and opting for damage limitation and our lack of urgency the second half was frustrating, we would be camped in the Morecambe half only to find it difficult to find the killer final ball, this is where Mayor really should have stepped up - it was the perfect scenario for him.

We did have a few chances, substitute Rudden somehow heading over from three yards out and then also hitting a post, Morecambe did have one chance that Palmer palmed away.
It was left to substitute Conor Grant to fire in the third goal in the 91st minute to give the game the sort of scoreline it deserved. It was just a pity we didn't boost our goal difference by scoring 4,5 or 6.

Lowe now has a selection problem at wing-back because Moore and Cooper played so well, although it could be said it was an easy game to play in and they were not tested defensively at all but will Edwards and McFadzean get back into the team?

Sarcevic had another good game and is now consistent, gone is the 'one good game in five' player we've seen over the last few seasons - now he always plays well.

Scott Wootton is getting better and better and is this seasons most improved player and today he added crossing ability to his repertoire because he fizzed in a few fantastic crosses when going on the overlap.

Grant and Telford did ok without standing out, they were both fouled in the lead up to both goals so in effect they won the game but in overall play they needed to contribute more.

Overall a regulation win and continues the good run we are on. And well played the Hux, that's two good games in a row at Home Park.

Man of the Match - Cooper.

Palmer 7, Wootton 7, Canavan 6, Sawyer 6, Josh Grant 6, Moore 7, Sarcevic 7, Mayor 6, Cooper 8, Joel Grant 6, Telford 6. Subs - Rudden 6, Conor Grant 6, Clarke n/a.

I think the posts above some up the game very well. Two things from me:

1. Really odd reception for Adams. I didn’t see the sarcastic clapping mentioned above but it was a shame the PA didn’t acknowledge him - I think he would have got a good reception, for the most part. The tongue in cheek Argyle chanting did raise a smile.

2. Where is the usual PA chap? No disrespect at all but the guy today was very poor. He didn’t have any enthusiasm to his voice and maybe lacked confidence. It made for a couple of odd moments! The new PA system hasn’t been tuned in quite right yet.

Does anyone have the 50/50 numbers?

Good performance

Wish we were more clinical and ruthless, second half, as we put them under extreme pressure.

A good performance and result never really in doubt, just a matter of time. Once the first one went in, a nice finish from Cooper, quickly followed by a routine pen for Sarcevic, that was it.

Really have to start Cooper particularly at home, as although wasteful at times as he is so eager to impress, still delivers assists galore.

Highlight though was chatting with Duncan Neale as he was bucket collecting for the Argyle Legends.

Sounds odd after a 3-0 win but I thought we were quite poor today aside from the first 30 odd minutes. In that period we were bright and created several opportunities though most were from around the edge of the box (Sarcevic, Mayor). Other than that it was cross after cross to a guy half the size of the centre-halves and another that doesn't jump. If they were our tactics we really need some presence such as Rudden or Taylor.

Overall it was a microcosm of the season really - nice football in a U shape around the edges of the pitch but we just don't offer enough chances for our strikers. People around me criticise them but as I've said before I can't recall either striker missing a chance. Principally that's because we play strikers that want the ball in front of them in a game where there are basically 7 central defenders sitting deep.

Morecambe were so poor that I feel sorry for Adams. Couldn't help thinking he might move for Taylor in January now that he finds himself behind Billy Clarke.

Can only echo a lot of what Posty has said above.
Both wing backs were excellent, and will have given
Lowe a selection headache. Sarcevic and Wootton
produced fine performances.
Joel Grant was inconspicuous, although he did win us a
penalty that will horrify Morecambe fans when they see the video.
This is definitely not his best position.
Most disappointing again, though, was Danny Mayor.
He seems to have lost all his mojo, opting almost always for
the safe option rather than risking a dribble, a lower
percentage pass or a shot. Hope he finds something soon.

A good professional performance, 3 pts in the bag, great to be back in the Grandstand.

Worried that we didn't take them to the cleaners in the second half - yes I know we have another game on Tuesday - but the opportunity was there, to at least get out of first gear in the 2nd half and score more goals - we only needed to go to 2nd gear.
Just hope we do not miss out at the end of season on auto promotion or the play-offs due to goal difference.

Nice to go home with a smile on my face after the game and a 3 - 0 win. However the second half was boring, sleep inducing football. Buckets of possession but no substantial threat up front. If we seriously want to threaten promotion we desperately need a striker who knows where the net is.

Nice to get back to the grandstand but very disappointed with the new seats and in particular leg room. Anyone over 5 ft 11 is probably still suffering from the reduction in leg space. The access and toilets in the grandstand are an improvement but the seats are worse ( a lot worse) than the old wooden ones. Very disappointed that after all that expenditure the seats are crap.

Would like to able to say that I went home with a big smile due to win. But went home thinking the seating is sh-t. Such a shame. Still nursing sore shins I am glad we won.
