Teams play too many games for some teams and players, so this is an easy one to cut out. Probably explains why the greatest league in the world has no representatives in the semi finals of the Champions League, and probably only Aston Villa in some Euro Plate competition after tonight.

Of course in the meantime let's expand Euro Competition numbers and games because the tv money is great, even though lots of the games are meaningless. And lets change even more UK games to stupid kick off times because China and the Far East have big populations who can watch at tv times that suit them and are far more important than traditional UK working class supporters.

The EFL says it will seek compensation over "frustrating and disappointing" decision to scrap FA Cup replays.

In a statement, EFL chief executive Trevor Birch said: “The EFL notes today’s joint announcement from the FA and Premier League regarding the removal of FA Cup replays and wider calendar changes.

"Whilst the League had previously been involved in discussions over the future of the calendar, these were predicated on the agreement of a new financial deal with the Premier League for EFL Clubs which has not progressed.

“This is frustrating and disappointing given the calendar is a shared asset across football and as we have consistently said a whole game approach is required to find solutions to complex fixture scheduling challenges.

“Our domestic calendar has been put under extreme pressure by the expansion of UEFA competitions and ultimately this represents another lost traditional revenue stream for EFL clubs at a time when the financial gap between the biggest clubs and those further down the pyramid is growing bigger than ever. We will now be discussing the implications for EFL clubs and seeking appropriate compensation arrangements.”

When the manager of 38 league game, FA cup 3rd round entrant, league cup avoidant, BRENTFORD has the audacity and safe ground in which to complain about playing an extra game because he couldn't manage his side to a victory then the game is in a sorry place.

I don't really care how much these people make, good luck to them. But when they are so wealthy collectively and individually and moan about playing 38 games plus 2-3 cup games in a season with all the luxuries of accommodation and travel at their disposal compared to league 1&2..... Just shows what has happened to the game.

Sorry, but that EFL statement is as weak as the proverbial. They really should be saying to the EPL and FA that their sordid little stitch-up is simply not on. The EFL need to refer this to the clubs pdq and, if the majority support it, tell the EPL to do one. Threaten to boycott the bleddy competition en-masse and see how the old farts at the FA react - I suspect a humiliating rethink might swiftly follow.

It can all be purchased, tradition , what days games are played at what time , replays, club colours , everything is sacrificed on the alter of money, anyone’s money, American corporations , Arab states , even chicken millionaires ,it doesn’t matter everything is up for grabs , even the national organisation charged with protecting the game.
It is all so disappointing but oh so predictable.

If the big teams don’t want a replay, put out their strongest team and win it on the day. Or put out a team of U18’s and no extra games for the first team. Simple.

I'm so angry about this. A Premier League/FA stitch up with no consultation. The game that I love is being taken away from me piece by piece. Its time us fans stood up to be counted ...I'd support any boycott of the FA Cup next season by Argyle.

Made me laugh the other week seeing a board post of one of the big 6 from a fan complaining at Sky changing their kickoff times making it hard for him to get to the stadium. Guy got critisised by hundreds of responses from his fellow supporters saying its those who watch on TV who are the true fans as TV deals support their club more than the ticket sales do, and that all kickoff times should be set as the most convenient for a TV audience rather than clubs pandering to the minority who go to stadiums.

Let the big 6 have their superleague so the likes of West African Reds can watch their idols take on Real Madrid in Kinshasa on the telly 6 times a season, but ban them from ever playing a domestic club again and lets have this reset.

Another nail in the coffin of the history of football. Very sad that young fans all over the country will be denied the opportunity to see top teams and players as a result of FA cup replays. All these top players are playing "too much football" but they are more than happy to have mini leagues in today's Champions Cup, Europa Cup and whatever that other tournament is called. Remember the old days when the Champions Cup was only open to the Champions of every European country, the Cup winners cup to the cup winners and the Fairs cup to the winners of the League cup. And more than happy to play all around the world on "international break" weekends in exhibition matches etc etc. It's all a big fix football now at the top level, especially when you hear of bribery scandals involving world football associations. Money pollutes and blinds people from taking the right path and that is the case in all walks of life unfortunately and not just football. A very sad day for all football fans in this country.

I think some big teams will come to regret it. Look at when we played at Anfield. Teams can definitely defend a 0-0 for 120 mins and win on pens. Could make for some terrible viewing though.
