With refs it is the little things that, when they get wrong, it naturally affects the judgement on their performance as a whole.

eg

Stopping our quick free kick because it was taken by Fox 5 yards further BACK than where it happened
Booking Joel Grant for an innocuous challenge because their player screamed having let three of theirs get away with worse before
Not adding on sufficient time in either half. 1 minute in the first was laughable

if he had got those things right he would have got much higher marks. I assume the assessor will tell him but if he hasn't picked it up yet he probably never will.

Have you noticed the new trend of time wasting.

When a goal is scored the scorer rushes off to furthest corner flag, invites all his team to join him, and stays there for at least 2 minutes! Then one of them takes an eternity to walk back to the half way line, very very slowly.

It seems a new trend of time wasting, it takes at least 2 mins, and it winds up the opp fans.

What does the ref do about it? Stands there pointing at his watch, but doesn’t actually add any time on at the end for it. If the ref starts booking people for time wasting, it might stop it happening.

Another clear tactic being used by teams to timewaste is when a sub is about to be made. Clearly word gets out of who is about to go off and he therefore goes and stands as far away from the dugouts as possible just before the sub is announced. Then begins a very long, slow walk off the pitch.

I really hope refs are using common sense here and not just adding on a set amount of time per substitution, because some can take 10 seconds, some take closer to 2 minutes.

If they add 30s for each sub and each goal, that would be 4 mins + the standard one minute which gives 5 mins, which means he added nothing for the time wasting, despite constantly pointing at his watch. We had one minute added to the first half despite 3 goal celebrations.

There's always one min.added time at the end of first half, even if nothing happens,it must be to justify the expence of the scoreboard, also,i would like to see the end of scorers celebrating in front of opposition fans,as this just causes a bad feeling in the crowd.Rant over!
