Although we don’t know what, if anything, went on behind the scenes, had Lameiras featured more in our first season in L1, we’d have made the play offs, had he featured more in our second season in L1, we’d have stayed up. A superb player, frustrating we didn’t utilise him as much as we could have for whatever reason.

You might well be right but he did play 30 odd games last season and came on as sub 10 times. So you could also say he was equally culpable in getting us to where we are today. Yes he was a good player but we have seen a lot of good individuals over the years some of whom have been miles better. He’s probably in our top 100 best post war players but nowhere near the top. What I can’t get over is the god like status he seems to have achieved in some people’s eyes
