I think we will lose today so let's hope I get these right and we stay safe for another week.

Acrington v Walsall = Either one to win, draw worst result.
B Rovers v Bradford = Preferably a Bradford win as we should have enough on them.
Oxford v AFC Wombles = Oxford win
Pompey v Rochdale = Pompey win
Scunny v Burton = Burton win
Safend v Wycombe = Draw, or at worst Safend win.

Whatever happens we need to match the results of at least 4 below again.

A draw would be a great result for us today, a win would mean safety.

I disagree, draw means both still behind us and one point doesn't go to either team.

So no surprises from Argyle, a loss as expected, however we did better than I hoped regarding the results.

Acrington v Walsall = Either one to win, draw worst result. Accy win.
B Rovers v Bradford = Preferably a Bradford win as we should have enough on them.Disappointing Rovers win.
Oxford v AFC Wombles = Oxford win Disappointing draw
Pompey v Rochdale = Pompey win Pompey win
Scunny v Burton = Burton win Burton win
Safend v Wycombe = Draw, or at worst Safend win. Disappointing Wycombe win, But Safend losing works

So we need 4 below us to not better our result and today we had 5 with one gaining a point.

I'll take it, one step closer to safety :scarf:

Better one is way behind, than both on our shoulder, I'm not looking for anything other than survival here.

So this Friday worst scenario for us is a defeat, so what can save the day if that happens?

Coventry v Bradford = Home win.
Scunthorpe v Blackpool = Away win.
AFC Wombles v Bristol Rovers = Away win.
Rochdale v Wycombe = Away win.
Walsall v Southend = Draw or home win.

This would keep 5 away from us and let us try again on Monday, and if that goes bad for us we need this.

Bristol Rover v Rochdale = Home win.
Luton v AFC Wombles = Home win.
Southend v Burton = Away win.
Charlton v Scunthorpe = Home win.
Bradford v Gillingham = Home win.
Wycombe v Walsall = Away win.
Doncaster v Accrington = Away win.

If this falls well, we will still be arms length from the relegation places.
Then we have the run in.
Rochdale v Southend = Away win or draw.
Walsall v Peterborough = Away win.
AFC v Wycombe = Away win.
Scunthorpe v Bradford = Away win.

Leading to the final games.
Looking at a worst scenario again.

Charlton v Rochdale = Home win.
Southend v Sunderland = Away win.
Bradford v AFC Wombles = Home win or draw.
Shrewsbury v Walsall = Home win.

There are some clashes where a draw or opponent win could also be beneficial, but this is aimed at a way for Argyle to survive even if we don't get a point during these matches.

Lets hope we don't need to rely on this................... :scarf:

Hmm, not what we needed,

Coventry v Bradford = Home win. = Good news
Scunthorpe v Blackpool = Away win. = Bad draw, Scunthorpe 1 point closer
AFC Wombles v Bristol Rovers = Away win.= Bad draw, Rovers safe, wombles a point closer.
Rochdale v Wycombe = Away win. Bad home win both now above us.
Walsall v Southend = Draw or home win. Draw so both a point closer

Not good enough only one stays adrift the same the others come closer or leapfrog us. It's real squeaky bum time now.

So Monday we need these four results, as we are unlikely to get anything from the game.

Luton v AFC Wombles = Home win.
Southend v Burton = Away win.
Charlton v Scunthorpe = Home win.
Wycombe v Walsall = Home win.

So the best we can hope for is that there are four sh1tter teams than us? Thatā€™s depressing. What really frustrates me is the standard of football played by argyle in the first half today is one of a team chasing promotion, we play some brilliant football at times but Unfortunately we have players, mainly in the back 5 of our team that are just not good enough. I think weā€™ll just about survive this season but next season Iā€™m not so hopeful.
I thought we played some of the best football since Holloway on our good run last season with mostly the same side..just shows how important Mathews vyner and bradley

Iā€™m sorry but this thing about last year defence with Vyner, Bradley and Matthews l just donā€™t understand.

People seem to have forgotten really poor games of defending similar to this season.

Foe example AFC Wimbledon at HP on 13/2/18 and one Lyle Taylor who caused us and our defence complete havoc. Fast forward 12 months and what happened. He scored again after giving him the freedom of the 6 yard box.

Itā€™s not just the players. Itā€™s a tactical and coaching issue. Else why would the same player cause us the same issues against both sets of defences. Itā€™s isnt just that he is a good player. Itā€™s the way we dealt with him from a tactical defensive angle.

We werenā€™t perfect defensively last year , but were alot better than this year , hence the 7th place finish.. In Bradley we had a leader and in vyner we had pace, two things weā€™re badly lacking this year

Additionally our midfield is poor defensively. There is rarely pressure on the ball meaning players can pick their passes.

Even at this level players will eventually play killer balls into the box.

Fox is a liability defensively, Ness is always injured, Carey gives away free kicks, as does Sarcevic and Lameiras isnā€™t a defender.

Add to that our back 4 is poor and thatā€™s why we are conceding 2+ every game.

Our only hope is that we donā€™t get overtaken as I canā€™t see where the next point is coming from.

I've felt that way for some time hence this thread.

I am trying to see a way of staying up without a single point more, we need four of those below to do no better to survive.

Because if we need more points I fear we will fail.

So as expected we get nowt, unfortunately Southend win and leapfrog us.

Luton v AFC Wombles = Home win. Playing tomorrow, come on you Hatters.
Southend v Burton = Away win. Bad news, Southend leapfrog us.
Charlton v Scunthorpe = Home win. Good result, Home win
Wycombe v Walsall = Home win.Good result home win

So with Bradford already down we have to match or better the results of the other 3 below us.

Today we got 2, by tomorrow it could be the 3 we need.

Moving on to the last 2 games, if it goes as shown below we survive, remember i'm basing this on us not gaining another point so it's still very much in our hands but if we do an "Argyle" the results below are all that can save us.

Walsall v Peterborough = Away win.
AFC v Wycombe = Away win.
Scunthorpe v Bradford = Away win.

Leading to the final games.
Looking at a worst scenario again.

Charlton v Rochdale = Home win.
Southend v Sunderland = Away win.
Bradford v AFC Wombles = Home win or draw.
Shrewsbury v Walsall = Home win.

An awful lot of people are down after this season
No entertainment
One dimensional manager
Leaking defence
Reliance on a few for goals
Next year maybe a resurgence will happen
Looking at national league/league 2 lots of semi derbies Exeter Yeovil Cheltenham Swindon Newport etc and as a London based :scarf: fan lots of games in and around such as Colchester Crawley Barnet orient Stevenage etc
Less travelling for players
Hopefully new setup new management team
We are probably going down because we are simply not good enough
Poor recruiting injury prone players journeymen and lack of tactics has cost us
Next year maybe a lot more inspirational for :scarf: all :scarf:

Yes as it turns out the recruiting has been poor but no one could have envisaged that a year ago. When we signed four or five players from premiership clubs there was a degree of optimism about. Itā€™s a shame that apart from Ladapo none of the others have worked out. Expertise is great when you have 20: 20 vision thanks to hindsight.
