Harold Budd, minimalist and ambient composer, died a few days ago from Covid-related ailments, aged 84.
Many may not have heard of him, but his music was brilliant, simple, and beautiful. He had worked with the likes of Robin Guthrie from the Cocteau Twins (and one album with the band themselves), Brian Eno (Ambient 2: The Plateaux of Mirror and The Pearl), and John Foxx (front-man to Ultravox before Midge Ure ... and still churning out brilliant albums now). I would play (and still do) a lot of Budd's albums to chill out to late in the evenings.
A sad loss to music
