Poor, poor Reuben. The 'coming back from an op' excuse will only last so long. Tbh - I'm hoping that Brewster gets him in top shape cos if he can there's no doubt he'll be a valuable part of the team.

Umm, its a very reasonable excuse actually and'll last as long as any specialist suggests... At the end of the day the guy shouldn't be in this situation. He was needlessly forced on injections to get by rather than getting the rest his recovery required. He's paying the price now for Sheridan and the other coaches mismanagement of him.

To be fair to Sheridan, he always said he asked Reubs if he felt 100% to play with injections and Reubs always said yes. Manager can't be psychic and realise a player is not at their best. Admittedly it showed in performances, but I understand wanting to play a 90% Reuben over a 100% Brunt with the goalscoring record he had, just his name is enough to make opponents worry, and its absence enough to give them a boost.

Just looking forward to it not always being the front 2 and a midfielder being substituted every match, that did start to get to me.

I really love the fact he mentioned the quality of the Home Park pitch, and how he aims to play entertaining football but utilizing the whole playing surface.

It sounds pretty basic, but in the past few years managers seemed to have ignored/forgotten this tactic

Yeah I do accept that point and was going to mention that Reubs is partly to blame also, but at the end of the day Sheridan should have realised after a couple of struggling performances that Reid's inclusion was not worth the potential long term damage of these injections. 90% Reid may be better than 100% Brunt, but that was not Reid at 90%, nowhere near. Brunt and Ansah showed in sub apps that they could justify a start, Sheridan was needlessly, but characteristically, stubborn to persist with a struggling Reuben. Fwiw I think Shez is a good manager (and far better than many on here let on), but I do feel he made a big mistake in the way he handled Reuben's injury.

Don't worry about Reuben. He has been working hard in the Gym over the summer and will be very fit....

Same as he did last summer, that is why the "fat and lazy" comments seem both incredibly moronic and at the same time hugely unfair.

Hopefully he isn't out for too long because we will miss him, no doubt about it. The sooner he is back to his best the better :scarf:

I remember this time last year when Sheridan said "Don't worry lads, come back in whatever state you fancy. Turn up half cut on the first day if you like!"

It was at this moment I knew we were doomed to relegation...

Thankfully Adams says he wants them back in "good shape" this year so we're basically garenteed promotion!

That's not what people are saying. But it is a well known fact that Sheridan didn't take many training sessions due to living up North, that can't have been good for standards, it's good to know that DA is going to be here full time and I get the feeling he'll work them hard.

Amen.

Our pitch should be a major asset but during the last few seasons we seem to have made it our enemy.

Point was people are extrapolating an awful lot from an innocuous comment every manager in the world makes before pre-season.

You have proved this point by extrapolating that Adams will take more training sessions that Sheridan. What part of "good shape" did you find that in?!

Besides, Sheridan was the Manager not the head coach. And its not a "well known fact". It's a Pasoti fact.

Good post. I'm excited for the future of course but all this stuff is classic, literally every manager will answer in a similar way. It means next to nothing right now - results on the pitch are how we ought to judge him, and as of yet, there's not been any of those..

I agree, and seem to recall the previous manager saying that he thought the pitch might even be working against us!

I saw the same people repeating it time and time again, but as always that means absolutely nothing.

I know it today's 'internet world' people think saying the saying thing over and over (and over) again makes it 'true' but it really doesn't does it. Not in the REAL world.

So if he WAS attending training sessions Chr*st knows what he was doing. Often the team resembled a bunch of strangers who had just met despite having some good players.
