I get the feeling some people will slate Morgan regardless.

I was pleasantly surprised with how he played, won plenty in the the air, but he was best on the wing in the second half.

He did a lot more than Reid in all honesty.

If I remember rightly, at the start of last season Morgan played out wide left, put in decent crosses but there was no one to get one the end of them.
yes he did alan and he did well.he was awful today though

Matches always bring up different opinions but you're completely wrong. :)

Mixed feelings after that really. First half dreadful, we looked like amateurs who'd never played the game and possession stats must have been laughable, at least 80/20 to them if not more. The only positive was that the scoreline was only 0-1.

Second half we had a very enjoyable spell where we somehow suddenly had them against the ropes and were passing the ball around the park with ease and flair. Didn't last long though and their mass substitution event was enough of a pause to flick the off switch on our short spell of possession and we were soundly beaten thereafter. This suggested to me that our good spell was based more on sudden momentum than a game plan, ability or intent?

My favourite gauge of how well we might have played is to scour the opposition forums for a hint of praise, acknowledgement that we played well, we were hard to beat, we were better than so and so or we'll be a good team for the league etc. Sadly not a jot of praise on any of the Swansea forums I checked, a comfortable win was the general consensus.

I had to leave 10 minutes early ( :furious: :wtf: - I know  ) as I had 5-a-side, but what I took from the game was:

Hartley & Nelson are so very clearly an excellent League Two partnership.

Cox & Norburn, while over-run at times today (system's fault? Not their's), are both very adept at winning the ball, and they can both more than play too. I really, really like the look of Ollie. We all knew what LC would bring.

McHugh had a lax first half (as did most in Green (white? )) to be fair, but improved considerably as the game went on. It's obvious to me that his position is CB, but in this set-up that won't be where he's playing at least for the time being. Him or Purrington at LB? It's a tough call.

Harvey's not a central midfielder. I've known this for a while. #10, possibly, but not in a midfield two. I'd love to see him flourish this season, as it looks like he'll get a fair amount of game time, but I'm really not won over. River Allen looks streets ahead both physically and mentally.

Oh, and Banton looked excellent when on the ball. I'd have him centrally offering a bit of support to Cox & Norburn.

Well - first off a winge - with so many new players, it would have been helpful to have numbers next to their names in the programme, or even for the announcer to shout out the numbers along with the names, or even have their names on the bloody shirts lol. Some or just one of the above would have been helpful.

I was impressed with our defenders, all the 3 new guys looked solid, the guy in midfield Norburn looked good and of course Cox did as well.

Still not impressed with Reid, seemed more interested in putting his arm into the defenders throat more then the ball.

Overhaul, not impressed with Swansea, just flashes of skill, (great free kick) Argyle came more into it in the second half - even though they conceded more goals in that half. Morgan better out on the wing, hopefully RR is saving himself for the real games.

The worst thing I saw today - in the players car park - an Audi - all badges taken off and sprayed a matt battleship grey - awful!!!

One of our new players was driving that.

He had a ginger looking beard, I haven't quite put faces to names on the new players yet, so don't know who he was.

Few things...mchugh? Not a left back...is history repeating itself in us not having an experienced LB going into a season? Thought he did play well at cb and looked comfortable

Mellor...awkward tried to do too much

Everyone else looked like providing a nice balance, lots of options.

Oh, Lewis is not a winger

Nice outing tho.

I take it lecointe, Smalley, blizzard and bitner all knocks or ill. Looking forward to seeing lecointe again.

A couple of funnies today also.

First Swansea had so many subs they wouldn't all fit in the dugout so extra chairs were brought down from the bar and there must have been easy 12-15 of them all in a line extending away from the dugout. Quite a funny and bizarre sight and a reminder of how enormous a Premier League squad is. It looked especially bemusing when compared to our subs bench which consisted of a couple of kids (Harvey, Purrington and Allen) huddled in the corner.

The second funny incident was at half time when the Swansea subs were warming up on the pitch. One of the water jet nozzles appeared from its subterranean hideaway just in time to eject high pressure water straight up the ar$e of a Swansea sub standing directly above it. His unexpected enema got roars of laughter from the Lyndhurst and it clearly rattled the poor lad!

The four match officials kicking a ball about and showing off their skills before the game was also unusual and amusing.

Another observation was how many technical coaches and specialists Swansea had on the pitch at half time. There was one working one on one with the goalkeeper. One working one on one with their star man Bony. Another couple working with the main group of subs. All the coaches were decent with the ball also.

Compare that to Argyle and we had not one single coach out on the field with our subs. Our lads were just having a kick about amongst themselves, including the goalkeeper.

I've long suspected our lack of technical training staff is the reason we've been so poor for so long.

Gutted we didn't get to see a glimpse of Swanseas old physio, remember her being quite an attraction in games gone by ;-)

I'm pretty sure she was there, I saw a blonde in a Swansea tracksuit fluttering along the line of bar stools that were catering for their second team.
