After 8th April games:

########################################################### Doncaster +35
##################################################### Argyle +19
################################################# Portsmouth +30

######################################### Luton +21
######################################## Stevenage +9
##################################### Exeter +16
##################################### Carlisle -1

################################### Blackpool +18
################################### Cambridge +8
################################### Colchester +6
################################## Wycombe +2
################################# Mansfield +3
################################# Accrington +3

A good day for the top three. We just need to better ONE of Luton's and ONE of Stevenage's remaining five results now.

Mathematically yes but realistically Luton or Stevenage have to win all 5 of their remaining games to beat us.

...and Portsmouth have to get 4 more points than Argyle! The match on Friday could be a cracker!!

What a fabulous end to the season in terms of who will make the play offs, anybody down to 13th is in with a superb chance.

With the exception of Carlisle who will be lucky to finish mid-table.

Also makes the remaining fixtures meaningful. Obviously positions and permutations/ambitions change but at this juncture....

Doncaster have 4 teams vying for (either in or within 3 points of) the playoffs and 1 fighting for their lives.
Argyle have Pompey, 1 team vying for the playoffs, 1 fighting for their lives and 2 against teams seemingly safe but with no ambition of the play-offs (Grimsby and Crewe).
Portsmouth have us, 1 team vying for the playoffs, 1 fighting for their lives and 2 against teams seemingly safe but with no ambition of the play-offs (Mansfield - outside change of playoffs by the time Pompey play them and Notts County)

So who/what is more dangerous?

Here is my visualization of the "finish line". The red line is our points compared to fourth place. One point above fourth place at the end of the season and we go up, or, 13 points above fourth place with four games to go and . . . well you get it. So the green line is the "finish line" - cross it and we are up. The blue line is last season.

Nice graph! And very nice to see the significant difference that's finally built up between last season and this, which for so long were an uncanny match.

So IF Luton and Steveneage loose tomorrow and we WIN we are promoted?

If we win and Luton fail to win we are up.

Alternatively if we draw and Luton lose and Stevenage fail to win we're up.

That's right.

However if we draw and Luton draw then, by my reckoning, if we're 12 points clear with four to play they can still beat us on goal difference...which they would. They're ahead of us anyway (19 v 21) us losing four and them winning four would only increase that.

In truth though, they ARE going to beat Leyton Orient so it'll go to the mother of all banana skins on Monday
